NJ Governor shuts places of worship, but deems liquor stores "essential"

Anonymous
Gov says liquor stores are essential to mental health, yet he arrests 15 individuals in a synagogue.

How many people are allowed to be in the liquor store at the same time?

What some people don't realize is that leavivng liquor and tobacco/vape places open is that it is for safety. You don't think there would be looting, robberies, break-ins?

Also? There aren't 15 people in liquor stores at a time. Liquor stores are also doing curbside ordering.

It's not easy or as enjoyable to worship at home. I haven't received communion in more than a month. So I get it.

Don't be dim.

Many liquor stores also sell food items and may be the only store in a neighborhood.

Also, alcoholics can't just dry up on a whim... then you have angry people stuck at home, taking it out on their families.

But ANY religious organization can live stream their service on Facebook.

Liquor stores ARE essential! How else would you get Lotto tickets and liquor?

Governor Phil Murphy said access to liquor is essential to mental health, but visiting your place of worship is not, regardless of maintaining whatever distance.

Shocking!

He actually charged the 15 Jewish people. Unbelievable.

Concerns about public safety Trump concerns of women and children stuck home eating their rage.

Was supposed to say BEARING their drunken rage

You don’t get it. Closing liquor stores would result in:

- black markets

- alcoholics going through withdrawal, many at hospitals

For the 5000th time on this forum, alcoholics die when liquor stores are open.

On the other hand, people have died because church services are open.

Murphy is doing a great job. Shut.

This plus increased abuse of other kinds. Turning to other drugs. Looting and break-ins. All this would fill the ERs with stupid people and the people they harmed, and would keep police and other first responders busy with stupid stuff.

Think.

I, too, haven't had communion in more than a month. I want to go to church. I am staying home because that is the highest form of worship right now; to put others before myself!

Are you talking about people from the community in Lakewood who keep having large gatherings despite being repeatedly warned and told to stop?

Democrat NJ Governor Murphy apparently is planning on keeping NJ on lockdown into July.

Poverty, depression, alcoholism, and suicide will kill more people than covid-19.

Maybe if people would follow the directives and STAY THE EFF HOME, this would end sooner.

Just imagine what would happen if they closed the liquor stores! This is unacceptable option.
You CAN make a religion at home but you CAN NOT make an alcohol at home. Unless of course you have enough of moon light you can make a moonshine but at this point this is still illegal if most states.
