| Husband and the kids wore me down and convinced me to let them get a cat. She’s 10 months old, litter box trained, already spayed, and is great with the kids. I’m just not an animal person. She’s really cute, I just keep thinking about how much work this might be. Any tips for a first time cat owner? |
| Why do you have to love the cat? Your kids love the cat. If you don't, then so be it. BTW, you probably will eventually, but if not, so what? It's a cat. |
| Let them deal with the cat |
| Is there a problem here? |
This! I’m not sure what you’re worried about, but since the group that wanted the cat includes an adult, I’d say that the adult that wanted the cat takes care of it. |
|
Since you are not as interested in the cat, the cat will of course love you the most.
Because cats. |
| Cats are so easy, really not an issue. Kids in charge of feeding and scooping the litter, basta. |
| Cats are low work. Feeding and scooping. Have the kids do both; I've noticed the cat usually loves the person who feeds it the most, so be sure to get both kids to feed it, not you. |
+ 1 I passed on feeding the cat to one of my kids and not the cat adores him.
|
"now" the cat adores him. |
| Cats are easy and I say this while my cat is the most demanding diva in the world who walks across my back when I'm sleeping, vomits on the stairs loudly in the middle of the night and poops on the floor for attention if the dog is getting all of it. |
| Cats are super easy. Dogs on the other hand are a lot of work. Don’t let them talk you into getting a dog. |
Your cat doesn't sound easy.

Try fostering a dog for a month like we did. I fell in love with the ease of having a cat after that experience. We learned it was not for us....WAY too much work. Having a dog for that month put things into perspective and now I like my cat much much more because it doesn't need my help to go to the bathroom, and doesn't bark.
