Singapore distributes millions of face masks in a day after changing health guidance-such competence

Anonymous
From a friend’s friend in Singapore: “This is what preparedness and competence look like: on Friday afternoon PM announces change in advice on face masks and says reusable face masks will be given to every household. On Sunday morning millions of face masks are being distributed - an app tells you your nearest collection centre from your post code, volunteer civil servants enforce safe distancing, take temperatures and check your Identify card IC / address, and hand you your mask(s). In and out and into the sun in under a minute.”

Yeah, well we suck. But in all honesty, Singapore is a first world country and its citizens are educated. You cannot compare it to US.

They figured out what was the best way to distribute most masks to the neediest people. No wastage.

BEHOLD THE POWER OF SINGAPORE MATH!!!!

The US has sytematically gutted public services on a state, local, and federal level. This is the result.

Conservative ideology is a cancer on American greatness.

Beg for forgiveness, Republicans.

Yes, and they publicly lash and cane people for petty theft.

You don't want to be gay in singapore.

Possession of marijuana in Singapore: Up to 10 years in prison, public caning and a $10,000 fine.

It’s a tiny, rich police state which means it’s ideally suited for dealing with this.

I am thinking that we could simply outsource the running of America to them. Or Iceland. Or South Korea.

They would make America Clean, Educated, Prepared....For Once. MACEP - FO

+1. It would be amazing if America could be run as efficiently and competently as Singapore is being run. Meanwhile we have people who don’t even believe in science in charge.

I’d be fine outsourcing the running of the US to highly educated Taiwanese or Danish bureaucrats.

Paunchy, white “conservative” men in Under Armor polo shirts have wrecked this country, both in DC and in corporate board rooms. They’ve coasted by for so long on the Old Boys Network that they’ve forgotten how to compete. Unfortunately, they’ve left the US so weak and powerless during this health crisis.

Understand this is a militaristic police state. They publicly cane people for smoking weed.

There are plenty of liberal democracies that are handling the crisis well. South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Denmark, etc.

You don’t need to be a police city state to manage a pandemic with competency. In fact, the US handled pandemics easily in the past. But it takes good leadership that defers to subject matter experts, public investment, and a bureaucracy that is supported.

The people who claim other countries do this or that should really spend some time living abroad and seeing that what’s reported in the media is often not what us actually happening. Also, spend some time reading what the media from other countries is saying about the US. It’s rarely what we are seeing on the ground.

This exactly. Most Americans are stuck in their little bubble. If they venture out, they tend to limit themselves to fake resort areas.
