Are to-go restaurants in NYC still open?

How could you feel conformable eating to-go food when this virus has consumed the entire city?
Further, if open, how do they get staff to show up?

Not sure, but I'm in the DC area and I have not given in to the temptation of take-out food for nearly a month. I know it's unlikely to transmit via eating food, but the science regarding the novel virus changes every day and who knows what they'll be telling us in a week or two.

Your groceries are take out food. I suggest you stop eating to save yourself.

I agree with this. I'm trying to be a little more conservative than "what the evidence shows" because that seems to be evolving.

No really. How do you think the strawberries got into that little container and potatoes into that bag and that lovely stack of apples at the grocery store?

PP is right. Choosing not to patronize restaurants will have an effect on the restaurants but isn't safer than buying groceries at the store or using Instacart. PP may or may not be aware of that while she is "saving" herself.

I heard this morning that it is now 40% of police officers out sick.

I live in NYC, and have been ordering takeout once a week to support my favorite local restaurants. I want them to be around once we all come out of hibernation! As long as you dispose of the packaging quickly and wash your hands right away, it's fine. It's not the food that's going to transmit the disease.

To kill the virus, you need to get all of the food (not just the stuff at the top) to at least 140 degrees.
