Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Yep. WSHS is traditionally better than Chantilly and exponentially better than Hayfield. The out of district ringer filled Hayfield team beat WSHS handily. |
| So I'm confused. FCPS said all was copacetic and then immediately after VHSL said the majority was ineligible to play? Did those kids play against WSHS? |
No, a whole bunch of ineligible kids had to be taken off the official roster and sit out the first game. See this article and photos as proof the coach broke rules and allowed ineligible players on the team sidelined--why are so many students in street clothes shaking hands at the end of the game? https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/fairfax_county/after-reid-cleared-hayfield-football-as-many-as-nine-of-15-transfers-deemed-ineligible/article_e3a9ee4a-6ba5-11ef-99db-eba9fe57be68.html Apparently one kid managed to cure his ineligibility in time for the Annandale game. The rest are apparently still off the team. |

If I was a Hayfield parent, given the climate of school safety in 2024, I would be deeply concerned that such an unqualified and immoral person is IN CHARGE OF SCHOOL SECURITY AND SAFETY.
That's seriously messed up. If something terrible happens at school, he's the guy you want in charge? |
PP here. Thanks. I didn't realize that many students had transferred in. Full disclosure- I'm a WSHS parent but don't care about football. I knew we got steamrolled but assumed it was playing against almost no new transfers. I see that was wrong. |
It was 15 transfers. 1 from DeMatha in Maryland 1 from St Johns College in DC 13 from Freedom (8-9 of whom were barred from playing in the game against you b/c they cheated on their residency forms apparently) |
There are two players from DeMatha. The number of Freedom transfers that were ineligible for the first game is lower than you say but there are also kids who transferred from other public schools that have been sitting. |
|
2! players from DeMatha (which is in maryland) and 1 from St Johns (which is in dc) and they all just spontaneously decided to give up their private school careers and scholarships and their whole families were gonna up and move to Hayfield boundary this summer to attend a mediocre FCPS HS..just coincidentally? No conversations with the coach whatsoever?
Anyone wanna buy a bridge in Brooklyn? |
Very good point. |
Ever thought the private school kids maybe lived near Hayfields while they were going to school at SJ and Dematha? Many Virginia kids go to WCAC schools, especially athletes. |
All 3 of them just happened to already live in Hayfield's zone, out of literally hundreds of public school zones in the DMV? |
totally believable, a 0.0005 percent chance mathematically. |
Either that or there parents moved there. Renting an apartment is probably cheaper than paying for private. Those kids go to those WCAC schools just to play football anyway. |
Trust the process. |
Often they have scholarships. Surprising to give up a scholarship to go to Hayfield. |
