I have heard that the gold teams get offers before tryouts, true?

+1. No games all season? No team practices? You got half a year of soccer. You should be refunded half a year fees.

HAHA Valor does not know how to give refunds

Yes, typically a week before tryouts so they know what positions they are looking to fill.
They put a lot of pressure on you to accept right away.

Valor is great at dropping balls.

I don’t have specific insight on this team, but a friend in another state has an 8th grader DD on a top team and has mentioned this issue. Most of the girls on the team are in 9th grade and tied up with high school soccer which leaves the couple of 8th graders in a tough spot… not a real season and not enough players at tournaments, especially if they fall on a weekend where something is going on at the high school. Maybe the white and black teams have more kids in 8th and hardly any in 9th? Top teams tend to have players born earlier in the birth year and only one or two who are younger. Lower teams have the opposite.

We use it a ton b/c my kid has been asked to guest from time to time on the White and Black Teams, so we are even on their TeamSnaps -- we can see all three U15 2009B teams.

Gold HAS NO GAMES. White has games. Black has games. And yes, about half the team is in 9th and half in 8th.

Oh and we were supposed to have combined practices Gold, White, and Black three days a week but Coaches each sent out a message last Monday that there was a scheduling conflict so no fields on Mondays but there would be film study and streching techniques and such taught as the offices on Mondays - Gold Coach indicated that there was more info to come. White and Black got a plan together and had that opportunity to meet starting yesterday. Gold? Nada.

Coach DS has been discussed ad naseum on dcurbanmom -- to the point that awhile back Jeff has had to delete some posts that were rude and inappropriate (maybe in part why we had to log in to this board for awhile). DS has been known to frequent this board as well. All I'll say is that DS is a nice person. That's all I got. Any more I've already said to him directly and certainly to others at Valor, and yet, here we still are.

you realize they are talking about another DS right…. Who joined this season and is now leaving.. other DS is a outstanding person and coach.. unfortunately some parents think there kids are much higher level
than they are. And he cant make diamonds out of coal.

Seems like this is an issue that could have been foreseen by Valor by the herculean task of...... looking at the list of birthdates on the team? Not just wait until the spring season to announce that half the team doesn't get a season. And, sometimes 9th graders don't make the JV team OR don't want to play HS soccer.

There are two DSes.

DS #1 coaches U11 girls and had a baby and is moving to Vermont and people want to know who the new coach will be for the team.

DS #2 is an employee of CYA soccer and also separately an employee of Valor soccer and coaches U15 boys.

Coach Gus (Gustavo) is taking over the U11 girls gold team. From what I have heard he is excellent, so those girls will likely be in a good spot with him.

Lol who cares that he had a baby? Immaterial, DS 1 is a terrible coach who is moving to Delaware. Can't happen fast enough. IF he cared about the girls he would leave now so the team can repair the mess he left.
No one is wondering who will take over because the club has already told us.

What about the two boys teams he coaches now (2009 white and 2012 white)? Someone else will be coaching at least one of them?

DS #! also coaches the U11 boys too. Wonder who they have replacing him?

Also agree who cares that he has a baby? Seems weird to throw that in there. As if none of us on here are parents.

From what I have heard many of the girl parents are happy to have Coach Gus.

I think that comment was just to distinguish between the two different guys.

How much did the fees increase from last year?

3050 a season. Doesn’t include uniform.

What was it last year? That seems so expensive plus $300 for a uniform, especially for the younger ages.
