Expectations of Clubs/Travel Coaches during CV Crisis

Anonymous
What's a reasonable expectation of high level travel programs in terms of communications/interactions with players during this crisis?

I'm hearing that quite a few clubs/coaches are in regular touch with their players, providing training plans, virtual training program subscriptions, Zoom meetings, accountability tracking, etc.

We've heard NADA from our club or coach other than the initial announcements about in-person soccer being halted which came from the volunteer TM via TeamSnap.

My daughter is managing her own fitness/technical training plan (using online resources and "borrowing" drills from an ECNL club in another part of the country) and her teammates have connected via FaceTime on their own.

Soccer is a really important part of these kids' lives. They went from full press to nothing in a matter of days. Just seems like some outreach from their coach is a reasonable expectation even if it's just a message of support for doing their own thing. Just curious as to what others are experiencing or expecting from their clubs.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Your club may be planning to refund parents for the cancelled season.

We've also heard nothing. After the initial "we're cancelling everything until such and such date, when we'll evaluate", that's been it.

Daughters club has had coach schedule team meeting online, followed by individual development plans online. Club has sent out training programs and scheduled a college program for HS kids looking to play in college also of course done online. A few more things that I cant think of. In short, they have been engaged as best I can expect

Our club has set up online meetings with teams and coaches, challenges to do (fun, condition, skill), they send a new message almost daily on social media. They assign games to watch and a set of questions for kids to answer/respond.

I have a U15 & U12. It was cute to hear the teammates voices coming from my 11-year old’s room and the coach asking how they’ve been doing, what they’ve been doing, etc. My son has engaged more in soccer since and spent the entire day in the driveway juggling and wall-ball, etc. The competitions and recent online interactions definitely peeled him up.

There is a lot of positivity, “family/team” talk and how they’ll get through this together.

I think it ranges. My DS has had his coach and other coaches leading virtual training (technical skills, tactical concepts, fitness sessions). But I’ve seen his friends (different club) have employed outside training resources (which makes me curious as to why the coaches aren’t), and I’ve seen plenty of posts describing nothing. I think it’s pretty simple: the bigger clubs have the resources, know-how, and/or ambition/passion whereas smaller clubs you may see less of that.

My son's ECNL/DA (professional) coach disappeared. Probably he is busy looking for a job to survival. I understand it.

We have had no contact at all. It’s a bummer and I’m surprised!

Our club set up an app with training exercises where kids can compete with teammates and also clubwide. We also received a fitness plan, and get emails from the coach a few times a week.

Didn’t ask for your advice, but thank you.
