Daycare and quarantine

Anonymous
The only daycare open right now is the one for my 6 week old. My older kids (3 and 5) are home right now too since their daycare is closed. Do I send my 6 week old (I am on maternity leave) so I only have 2 of the 3 kids to deal with? I think I am slowly losing my mind dealing with all 3 all day long. Dh is working from home but is working insane hours and isn’t much help. Would you send a 6 or 8 week old to an in home daycare?

How many kids in the daycare?

Daycare provider said anywhere between 5-6 on a given day. Plus 2-3 providers so less than 10 people at any time.

HELL NO then. That is super unsafe.

HELL NO! Absolutely NOT! I can't stress my "no" enough. That newborn has ZERO immunity.

Op here - I am afraid I am developing ppd and just cannot deal with this situation for weeks or months on end. It is untenable. I also have to go back to work at some point. Not sure how I am going to do that.

The newborn actually has some of mom's immunity so not zero. But I still wouldn't send.

Have you been asked to quarantine? Or isolate? Either personally or because your area has ordered a stay in place?
Just curious because you put quarantine in the thread title but most people have only been asked to keep Social distance.

There is no way I would send my infant to daycare if I was on maternity leave, pandemic or no.

Is the newborn(s) split off? Like it's an in-home and there's only two little ones so they are with a carer most of the day separate from toddlers?

OP if you are really stressed, can you afford to hire a sitter for he bigger kids?

Everyone has zero immunity to the novel pathogen. And with over 500,000 cases, no newborn has died. And very few have required hospitalization.

I would send but I would lie about it to friends because most people are more terrified than me. I have no contact with at risk people and have been isolated for two weeks so, even if we were asymptomatic carriers, we aren’t anymore. And it is a small daycare with fewer than 10 people at all times.
