cold "hottest topics"

Can they just be deleted? No one has commented on many of these for weeks or months. We need some fresh topics, please!! I'm begging on behalf of many of your readers.

Yes, I do, but the hot one's are still old. And there's only one page of recent ones. A topic that may have just posted earlier in the day will be bumped off the recent page a few hours later.

I kind of agree. Hottest topics is really nothing more than the hall of fame now. Some of those threads are closed. How are they hot?

I think it would be nice to have hottest topics be those with the greatest views that week. That way is reflects what is hot. The current list reflects what may have been majorly hot in 2007.

I already posted in the first thread on this topic that I am working on changing the Hottest Topics (actually, adding a second on that has the Hottest Topics for the past 30 days. However, it's not as easy to do as everyone seems to think it is. The database query is easy, but I have to write about 5 different Java files to get it to work. The author of the software chose a very strange way to get data from the database to an html page. I'm basically trial and erring (mostly erring) how to do it.

If the issue is that Recent Topics is too short, I can make it longer very easily.

I don't mean to sound tense, but I may give that impression because I'm trying to respond quickly and perhaps not taking as much care as I should with the tone of my response. I did watch Sarah Palin on O'Reilly last night which may have raised my blood pressure a bit.

Jeff, I'd like to be the same weight I was 15 years ago-is there something you can do about this? I understand if it will take after the MLK holiday. PS-if you can't help me, can you at least start a new forum in my name (Jaden Natalie Bryer Anonymous)? PPS- can we have a separate Sarah Palin forum-if not for info maybe for laughs?
