Ellen DeGeneres — Not so nice

Anonymous
Comedian Kevin T. Porter sent out a tweet on Friday urging people to send him 'the most insane stories [they've] heard' about DeGeneres in an effort to fundraise for the Los Angeles Food Bank.
Porter labeled DeGeneres as 'notoriously one of the meanest people alive'
One user alleged that a former head writer for The Ellen Show was 'fired' for not crossing a writer's strike picket line.
Another claimed Ellen would 'pick someone different to really hate' each day while on set filming her beloved talk show.

That is a pretty well known reputation.

1. Weird
2. Why target a woman specifically for being mean? Was there such a push against a Letterman or a Stern, for example?
3. I actually can’t stand her show (I think it’s juvenile), but I don’t see the need for an ad hominen attack.

Some of those comments are really bad — the autistic man fired for speaking to her.

Were those guys mean to their staff? I don’t know.

She acts like a man, but since she's a woman, she gets attacked for it.

Howard Stern is known for being absolutely amazing to his staff. Look how long they've all worked for him.

This is old news OP. She is well known as a nasty mean person.

It’s not meant to be new “news” — just more details on how fake “nice” she is when out in public.

Some serious Ellen apologists on this thread. Really weird.

Newsflash — people don’t like fakes and frauds.

Pretty well known that she’s a gigantic bitch.

No she acts like a nasty woman.

I’ve heard she’s pretty cold and self righteous. OTOH, this entire things is pretty much a mean girl thing to do. What bullies!

She gets the female pass and gay pass.

I say that as a gay woman.

Do I appreciate what she did for gays in the 90s? Yes, very much. Do I like her or think she's a nice person? Not a chance. I have two separate friends who have worked for her and both have tons of horror stories.

The first one actually worked with her on season 1-3 of her talk show before going back for seasons 12 & 13. They were a PA on The Ellen Show and contacted to come on board when the talk show was taking form. This person said that the Ellen you see now is not the same Ellen from 2001-2006. That's why when they went back for season 12 they only lasted a short time before bowing out.

Ellen's favorite thing to do is see how far "normal people" will go to win some cash/prizes. She also, apparently, loves watching the audience reactions after the show tapes to see the crazy faces they make when receiving the gifts. She hums the old 'what would you do for a klondike' bar jingle during some of the games because she thinks it's so hilarious to watch audience members trying to hard for "just a few thousand dollars" in her own words.

Interesting. I could tell she was mean just by watching her on tv. (I never heard those rumors.) I think her talk show pranks and her new game show-whatever-it-is are sadistic.

Jared Kushner is evil.
