How to register for school if they are closed

Anonymous
We need to register for elementary school and hopefully enter the language immersion lottery.

How can we do this if schools are closed?

Any ideas?

Have you tried calling the schools? I think there is administration still working.

Apply online for language immersion. Not sure if you are MoCo, but here is their link: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms/admissions/immersion.aspx

Call the elementary school and leave a voicemail asking about registration. The admin employees are teleworking. They'll get back to you.

You should definitely call the school but I would give it a few days. They are trying to figure out so much right now that they may not have a plan for this just yet. But they will...they're not going to just let this go.

I'm guessing OP needs a MCPS student ID number in order to enter the lottery.

If you or someone you know has a child who will turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, please note that MCPS has launched an online registration/enrollment process to support families who wish to enroll their child(ren) in MCPS! This new process is for registration for next year's kindergarten class, as well as current transfers within MCPS. Unfortunately, due to the emergency closure of schools, plans for our traditional kindergarten orientation event are on hold. For now, this new process will fulfill the need to eliminate visits to the school buildings and as much as possible the handling of paper forms. Families can to start the registration process here:
