Is It Normal To Be Out Every Night

Anonymous
Three kids, four soccer teams, two girl scouts, one boy scout, one piano lesson.

This has me or my wife out every single night of the week except for Sunday nights.

This can't be what everyone does, can it? It's exhausting.

That sounds normal for three kids.

Yep, if your kids are into activities.
I only have 2, and during sports we are out 4-5 nights per week, so I imagine a third kid would take the other nights. My kids are not particularly active, either.

Yes it is normal.

Yup.

It's not abnormal. If you find it's too much, why don't you work out some ride sharing with other kids?

It will get worse, until you get them a car or they decide to buy their own.

We have one kid and yes, its normal. We have an activity every day except one night (and sometimes on that day) and twice 1-2 days a week.

That’s crazy. Learn to say “no”.

You can say no

You should have said, an occasional, no a long, long time ago. Could have decided how much activity/family time worked for you and your spouse. Now you're probably scre#ed

Its not crazy. They choose to have three kids. One sport, one social, one music lesson. That is reasonable.

We eat together all the time. It doesn't have to be every night. We eat before or after activities just spend time at other times, not meals.

Yes we used to have something almost every night with 2 busy kids. Luckily one young teen dropped all evening activities due to his own exhaustion and just stays after school for clubs/sports now. It should get even better next year when the oldest starts driving herself to practices.
