| Anyone have any guesses re national tournaments being affected by Coronavirus- especially upcoming girls and boys showcases with teams coming from all over the country... |
| It doesn’t have to be national tournaments. The DMV area has the Coronavirus now. There are many tournaments going on now and in the next 2-3 weeks. Too much money for any of them to cancel. |
Pathetic. |
| Keep living your normal life people. You haven't stop sending your kids to school or going to work yourself. Just continue to use proper hygiene (as you should corona or not) and you will most likely be fine. Ok Maybe tell your grandparents not to come out to games. But honestly you have a better chance of dying in a car accident to or from your tournament than catching and dying from corona. With that being said good luck and wishing all a competitive and injury free weekend of soccer... |
| Yes. The one in Spain over spring break... |
| I was wondering if Jeff Cup or Stafford or Alexandria or McLean would be canceled. Or the big one in Hershey Park Memorial Day weekend. |
| I was wondering if the She believes cup tournament will be cancelled tonight. |
| These clubs rely on the money they make from tournaments to survive. There is no way they voluntarily cancel tournaments themselves. Teams would have to stop going to events to the point they were not worth holding. We are no where near that point right now. |
Signed by someone who probably wears their shoes in the house. |
| the panic is stupid. |
|
This thing is out of the box. It will expand exponentially. By the end of this week there will be thousands of confirmed cases. They will start to cancel tournaments by this weekend.

For most of us, the consequences are not likely to be substantial. But for a few, it can obviously be lethal. So maybe we shouldn?t panic but maybe we should be appropriately aware and cautious? There is a consistent line of know-nothingness running from the left to the right in politics when it comes to science, whether climate change, GMOs or vaccines. Most people are rational and calm and not panicking but are not going to pretend like there is no problem. The virus is there, highly contagious, not likely to be contained absent tough measures, and likely to take a number of older or sicker people with it, like other severe flus. And no, I too don?t take my shoes off in the house but probably should. | If/when MCPS, FCPS and other local school districts start canceling schools, then I can see tournaments getting canceling as well. |
wont happen. |

There was already a very long thread on this topic:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/860175.page I've locked it, but I don't think much more needs to be said in any case. |
