I don't understand why the US isn't testing more people for the Coronovirus. The letter from the nurse who treated a patient for coronavirus, has symptoms, but can't get tested is just insane. Korea has tested 140,000 people and can test 10,000 people a day. Why isn't the US testing thousands of people a day? Where is the outcry?

Because Americans don't understand math. They don't understand statistical sampling or exponential growth curves.
OP, I agree with you. It is INSANE that DC hasn't confirmed any cases yet. You know it is here, but no one knows where, so we can't quarantine or take preventative measures. |
| Because I learned about it only recently on DCUM and don't know what to do to make them test more. I was utterly shocked btw. |
| There has been an outcry, that is why there have been teleconferences almost daily, articles explaining the process and where it broke down, press conferences from Pence, statements from Congress people, etc. |
Why are ppl still going on cruises? |
|
BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ENOUGH TESTS and NOT ENOUGH TESTING LABS. |
| A lot of people don’t understand that a lack of positive tests does not mean the virus isn’t here. If you don’t know you can’t get mad about it. |
Md has its own lab and has only tested 31 for the whole state. You are saying Md could not be testing at least 10x more? |
| Outcry? there aren't enough tests to go around! what the hell people! |
|
It really is a huge failing of the CDC. A complete and utter failure or the public health and safety of our country.
Why isn’t there an outcry - because most people weren’t paying attention to it until Italy blew up and went on lockdown so quickly. People can’t really relate to China, but they can relate to Europe. Now people are catching on but they still don’t understand how far behind we are. This time next week I expect our numbers to explode. |
The numbers can NOT explode because we aren't testing!!!!! When are we going to start testing in a widespread basis? |
| We are f'ed. DC has managed to test only 8 people in a city that has a 1 million population during the work day. |
Apparently all the US labs are really slow. Perhaps there aren't enough trained personnel. Perhaps they're triple-checking everything and it takes time. Who the heck knows? All I know is that other countries have tested far more patients far more quickly! |
| Because govt incompetence in the face of a crisis is now a political issue of us vs. them instead of all citizens being pissed at incompetence. |
|
Trump told people to just go to work....you’ll be fine.
There are NO tests here. |
