Are colleges suspending fall semesters overseas due to coronavirus?

I am hearing a lot about college-sponsored spring trips being cancelled, but am concerned for my DS, who is planning to study in Australia in the fall. Has anyone heard of any schools cancelling fall semesters? He is very nervous about this.

Literally look up the media sites from another country. It's only US mass media creating the terror and chaos. The rest of the world is continuing on, as-is. Our media is just dramatic

You mean Italy and Japan who closed all schools and sporting events to fans?

Yeah, it’s just us.

I think you’re mistaken. Europe is definitely on edge. Every news outlet, from the serious to tabloid, is giving extensive coverage to the virus.

The fall is a LONG time from now... Don't worry.

It's probably too soon to make a call on fall semester. Spring semester, most are calling the students back.

I’m at GW and all business travel (students, faculty, and staff) is suspended until July. Nothing determined after that.

India closed all of its primary and pre-primary schools through the end of March, even though they have no cases.

Half of Italy is shut down.

China is still in massive quarantine.

But sure -- we're the only ones.

You can go ahead and sign up but it’s scary and very disappointing when it’s cancelled. One is a health issue of course but the other is really a let down for the students who have planned and dreamed of the trip for years.

They're going to start shutting colleges down soon, not just study abroad programs. It will probably be too late.

You are completely wrong about all of this.

Their flu season is both before and after ours (depending on the virus) so it is picking up now.

What do you think about a college requesting non-refundable summer deposits for travel abroad right now?
