YES PLESE!!!......
Maryland could spring forward permanently with Daylight Saving Time bill ANNAPOLIS, Md. — At 2 a.m. Sunday, hundreds of millions of Americans will “spring forward” one hour in the annual observance of Daylight Saving Time — gaining an hour of sunlight but losing an hour of sleep. Some Maryland lawmakers are aiming to change that. Whether it’s gaining an hour or losing an hour, the time change can be disruptive. |
| Forward, backward... whatever, as long as we stop the tme swinging madness once for alll!! |
|
There is a little more to it than that...
If passed, the legislation would be contingent on changes being made to the federal Uniform Time Act, which allows states to exempt themselves from observing Daylight Saving Time, but requires a change in federal law to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round. |
YES PLESE to the sun rising at 8:30 am in January? Not for me. |
+10000 - morning person |
| Crossing Western Avenue would get confusing. |
Exactly. |
| Oh geez. So for half the year the time in Maryland is different than in DC and Virginia?! |
| That would make things tough for people that commute from DC or VA. So I drop my kids off at 8:00 in VA but then it would already be 9:00 at my work in MD. |
DP but I just wanted to boost this post, it’s an important point!!! |
But the opposite would be great - drop off kids at 9 at school in md and then be in the office in dc at 8:30. |
+1 I’m surprised insurance companies don’t lobby harder for this, given that accidents tend to spike in the day(s) after we change the time. |
If one jurisdiction does it, I'm guessing it would force the other two jurisdictions to adopt. Still, people in the Midwest near the timeline or those who live along the California/Arizona border deal with this every year. |
| Really, really bad idea unless DC and VA were to switch at the same time. |
