They loved Mary Poppins. Are there any others? |
Kiki's Delivery Service (Hayao Miyazaki) and some (not all) of the other movies he made. Magical, perfect for young kids. |
Milo and Otis |
How old are your children? |
Almost 5 and 7 but very conflict-averse (at least in fiction). |
Cars! |
alvin and chipmunks (first one). daddy daycare is pretty funny. |
I don't think that Curious George has a villain per se That said, my five year old won't watch it because he says it's too sad (the beginning part where they take George away from the jungle, and the middle part when George goes back to the jungle).
Homeward Bound doesn't have villains either, I don't think. My boys also like Toy Story, but it depends on whether you think the boy next door is a true villain or not. Again, my sensitive boy can't watch the part where the frankentoys come out from Sid's room. |
As for Miyazaki - my boy LOVED Ponyo - but, it does have a villain - and there is conflict. |
Tinker Bell is cute.
Here's a website with ratings of kid friendly movies. You can search by age. http://www.commonsensemedia.org/ |
Toy Story 2 doesn't have the creepy kid next door. The fat toy collector guy is still a bad guy, but in a less disturbing way.
My son loved Space Buddies--I found it annoying, but the antagonists are more like bumbling scientists, nothing really scary. I've heard there are other Buddies movies, but haven't looked for them myself. |
Thanks, I appreciate all the recommendations. Please keep them coming! |
OMG, this movie is beyond sad. I watched this as an adult and cried (like actual, audible crying). I second the suggestion of Cars. This was the first movie my son watched all the way through--and then became obsessed with. |
What about Up? |
Up has a villain, if I'm not mistaken. The evil scientist guy that's trying to blow the balloon out of the air. |
