Critic our rankings and chances of getting in?

We live in North Michigan park and our toddler would be going to PreK3. Inbound school is Bunker Hill.

1- Stokes - French
2- Stokes - Spanish
3- Inspired Teaching
4- Yu Ying
5- Shepherd Elementary
6- Ludlow
7- Mundo Verde
8- Creative Minds
9- E.L Haynes
10 - Whittier
11 - Lee Montessori
12 - Bunker Hill

All I can tell is that your preferences are not guided by language or proximity.

If you get Stokes French, your number will have been good enough for Stokes Spanish, so it's a bit of a wasted spot, but if this is your true order (and you don't have another school you'd consider adding) then it's fine. I'm surprised to see Creative Minds where it is--for me I'd put EL Haynes higher, and Lee way higher (but of course this is subjective!). If Mundo is convenient for your commute, you might look at Langley, which is pretty close, and which I'd rank higher than Creative Minds.

Or path/feed to MS/HS.

What about LAMB - South Dakota? You have other Spanish and other Montessori and it would be close to you for three years before it moves. Better than some of the schools low down on your list.

At this point, I would only put LAMB if the Kingsbury location is a viable option. Only because a number good enough for LAMB is going to be good enough for schools that are much closer and won't require getting lucky in the lottery again and another school transition for the child.

do they still run a separate lottery?

Ludlow definitely feels like a wasted spot if you're OOB--they wait-listed 22 IB kids last year according to the DCPS data, and only made 5 wait list offers. Even if you got a phenomenal master number I don't think you'd get in. Without a sibling offered or attending, Shepherd and Whittier feel unlikely too (although weirder things have happened).

No harm in listing them if you can't think of 3 other schools you might consider ranking, but if you're bumping off other schools to make room for those 3 I'd maybe reconsider.

I don't know if this is true. With the impending move and as the school's first year in the Common Lottery (meaning you don't have people doing the lottery "just because, why not? it doesn't waste a spot") I think it's really possible that it will be easy to get a spot in South Dakota. It might be worth adding it in the number 10 or 11 spot. If you're IB at Bunker Hill you could always go there later.

For PK3 Shepherd is a wasted spot, unless something different happens from the last several years.

Whittier and Sheperd on the list suggest that the Kingsbury location is a viable option.

I'd take out Ludlow and Creative Minds and put in Capital City and one of DC Bilingual, Truesdell, and Barnard.

+1 better shot at LAMB than Shepherd.

You don't say which Mundo Verde. I would put that higher up MV8 based on where you live, but it does seem like your numbers 5 and 6 are wasted spots so maybe it's placed ok. I would also put Lee higher and add LAMB but maybe you're not very interested in Montessori.

Your list is pretty much fine if a little odd, but be prepared to match at Bunker. You don't really have anything on here that is in middle-demand . Which is not a problem, just so you're prepared. I'd probably have Burroughs above Bunker as well. Be careful to note that Bunker has limited after care space. Some people don't get any after care there.
