My cat is obsessed with me

As the title says..he’s obsessed with me! He will be 2 in April and my husband and I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He’s always been attached to me but over the last few months, he’s been obsessive! Every night, he NEEDS to be in our bed and cuddled up right next to me, touching me. If we lock him out, he will body slam the door over and over and over again until we let him in. Once in, he immediately needs to come on the bed and lay right next to me/against me and will bury his head into my arm and snore away all night.

All day long he is by my side. He will be deAd asleep and I will go into the kitchen to make lunch (I work from home) and he will immediately wake up and sit with me in the kitchen while I make lunch and then sit by me while I eat.

There are days that I leave to run errands and he will watch me leave by the front stairs and I’ll come home an hour or so later and he’s on the same step waiting!!

Is this normal?!? My husband actually jokes that he’s “unhealthily obsessed with me” but it’s kind of true!

You are his person.

Ha our cat is obsessed with DH. In fairness, DH adopted him a year before we met. But yes, he follows DH around everywhere. If I'm home at night (I work nights) he sleeps at DH's feet. If I"m not home, he sleeps curled up next to DH.

He meows at me if I come into DH's office when he's curled up on his lap. I think he thinks its "their" room.

On the rare days that DH is away at night, the cat will meow/howl at random hours of the night because he misses DH.

And yes, he HATES closed doors if DH is on the other side.

And there is nothing at all wrong with having a little creature depend on you and love you.

No other living thing has ever loved me as much as my cat loved me.

Miss her so much.

Our cat is obsessed with me too.

I was never a cat person, and didn't want a cat (he was a baby stray that my husband and son found at 7-8 weeks), but he walked in and loved me. Unconditionally, forever. He is just the sweetest soul I have ever met, and requires so much cuddling and kisses.

My stone heart has melted.

My dog is the same way, I don't mind I love him very much. I like being his person.

I think some breeds of cats are more loving/require more attention than others.

I love that he's obsessed with you. Embrace the love.

My cat is the same. Dh said my cat cries for me when I leave.
He sleeps in the middle and he cries when dh try to touch me.
I love him so much.

This thread is making me tear up. I have a cat like this, too, and having unconditional love is so special. Just enjoy, OP!

My doggie is the same way. She's curled up in our living room right now-- I'm waiting to hear her scrambling feet when she realizes we're not in the same room!

She's always peeking her head around a corner just to be sure of where we are-- once a big dog approached DS suddenly and seemingly aggressively and our little doggie was a whirling Tasmanian devil- we barely held her back. She would have died protecting him.

She's great a boarding, grooming, daycare because she seems to understand that paradigm, but at home she sleeps as close in between DH and I, as close to me as possible.

Humans really don't deserve the unswerving love we get from our pets.
