Friends invited our family over to watch the Super Bowl tomorrow. We are really looking forward to it. Kids the same age, adults get along great etc.
They just gave us word that one of their kids was at the ER today and diagnosed with flu. Kid is home now resting comfortably and is stable. They are still good to host but wanted to give us the info and an out. I do not want to go - feel like it’s unnnecesary risk for us and our kids. DH thinks we should still go. Am I crazy overprotective? What would you do? |
My husband is a doctor and would refuse to go. |
I would not take my family, no. |
No, I would not go, and I’m surprised they would expect people to still come. |
I am not particularly overprotective, but I would not go. |
No way. |
Nope. |
Omg who would ever consider that?!?! No way. They shouldn’t host anyone. |
When my kid had the flu this year, the last thing he wanted or needed was extra people in the house. He was really miserable. I think it’s fine not to go. |
No way on earth. |
I wouldn’t go. I have three boys and we love mud, dirt, etc. But confirmed flu? Not worth it. |
I’m very relaxed about germs, maybe too much so, but I wouldn’t do it. The other kids are likely to be coming down with it as well, even if they’re still asymptomatic.
And the poor kid needs to rest! |
Thank you! I appreciate the quick sanity check. I think DH is just super enthusiastic about the game and seeing our pals, but it’s so not worth the risk! Thanks for the reinforcement.

My son just got over the flu. It was relatively mild but still pretty bad. Absolutely not. I'm shocked that they are still asking you to come. |
My son had the flu this year and I too am generally low key about this stuff, but definitely not. And we are Chiefs fans, so I even get wanting to be somewhere festive for the game! But no. |
