You kidding me? I wouldn’t bring the PARENTS never mind the kids. Have you had the flu? It STIIINKS. |
I woukd send my husband solo. The kids and i would sit it out. |
So you would allow your husband to be exposed to the flu and then bring it home to the rest of the family. If you’re avoiding it, then you avoid it completely. No way on earth would I go to somebody’s house who had the flu. I had it last year and it was absolutely the most miserable illness I’ve had in years— And I did not have a mild case of it I was sick as a dog for nearly 2 weeks. I don’t want to go through that again, and I do not want my children to have to go through that unnecessarily. |
Cant believe no one else has realized this! They are being polite; they really don’t want to you to come, and you didn’t take the hint. Of course you don’t go! |
This exactly! Your husband is clueless on this one. |
Absolutely not.
We just had the flu at our house. The day one kid was sent back to school was the day the second child came down sick. Unfortunately a child is not only contagious until he has gone 24 hours fever free (without medication), someone else in that home could be contagious and hasn't come down with it yet. Stay out of a home that has a flu case for a full week. |
This. Your husband absolutely should NOT go either, OP. He might be thinking, the sick kid will be in a bedroom away from us, I won't be anywhere near the child, etc., but that's foolish. It's probable that someone else has the flu in that household and isn't symptomatic yet -- but they could still be contagious even if they feel fine. The CDC says you can be contagious for a full day before you have any symptoms. I'm writing this from my bedroom where I've quarantined myself because I have the flu (yes, I got my flu shot....). It is sucking days and days away where I can do nothing (though thank goodness for Tamiflu). Your DH needs to watch the game at home. Even the Super Bowl with friends is not worth the risk of lost days of work and school and feeling horrible. Has he ever had the flu? The real thing, not some cold he thought was "flu"? If not, he doesn't understand. Especially if you have kids, he needs to stay home. |
I would not go |
How is this even a question? No, you cancel.
You don’t know what the kid has touched, where the germs are, and who else in the family is coming down with it. While we were able to successfully quarantine one of our kids who had the flu (sparing the rest of the family), that’s only because he was on lockdown in our bedroom (so he could watch tv) and only used the master bathroom...for an entire week. We also scrubbed everything around the house. Do you think your friends have done this? Even so, it’s still a gamble. Watch the game at home. Having said all that, the flu is everywhere now...including schools. Good luck! |
Would totally refuse and I am not a germaphobe. I think its so weird they are hosting... |
Helllllllll no. They shouldn’t be hosting anyone!! |
Seriously. Cancel your damn party! |
Exactly! |
No way. I can't believe they are still having it. |
I’m just getting over the flu. A full week. Don’t do it. |
