The U.S. will not win the Gaza War. Street-level war tactics are cell phones.

Thanks for sharing that. The people of Gaza have a tremendous amount of resilience. May they find peace.

Because he is a coward and a god-awful president. I thought Trump was supposed to be the tyrannical despot. I was so wrong.

Proud of these students. I'm hopeful for the very first time that we will see actual change in our ME policy. Hopefully this is the end of decades of ethnic cleansing.

Like him or not, at least Speaker Johnson had the guts to show up in person in New York.

I would LOVE to see this student debate with the USC valedictorian! That Trojan would whomp whomp all over this entitled Yalie who didn’t even try to pretend that she was there on her role as part of the Yale Free Press …

You're a parody of yourself at this point.

Yes, this is unhinged.

How is this unhinged? The alleged "eye stabbing" was the biggest load of BS that I'd ever seen - and we've seen a lot of fake crimes.
Have you watched the video of the "assault" that the Yale student was crying over? It was ridiculous. She was basically standing in the street harassing protesters as someone walked by with a flag that swiped her. I've had massages that were more threatening.

They had peace, until they broke the cease-fire on October 7

Arrest them all and stop negotiating with 20 yr. old toddlers.

Our future leaders

If these are our future leaders, we are in a heap of hurt.
"I wish I was more educated......."

You don't have to know all the details of a highly complex history to know that what you're seeing *right now* is wrong, and want to speak out against it.

Good grief. Quit excusing their ignorance. They have no idea why they are protesting.

Yes the pro Israeli are pretty clueless.

Oh, sweetie.... the two girls in the video were very much anti-Israel and could not articulate why they were protesting.
One even said, "I wish I was more educated."

And that is why she is in school to become more educated. At least she recognizes her limitations unlike the lot of you pro-Israel sheep who are proud of your ignorance.

Oh, Lordy. You will make any excuse for these entitled little brats.

Don't hate them because they are young, full of life, and supporting a worthy cause while you are past your prime and drumming a keyboard for your overlords.

The issue is that far too many of these twits cannot tell us the "worthy cause" they are supporting. They have no idea why they are protesting.
Just a bunch of sheep following other sheep. It's called flocking instinct.

Actually their cause is crystal clear, pure and enduring. It’s the cause of valuing human life , freedom and dignity. It’s morally bankrupt, propagandized twits like you that twist themselves into a pretzel to rationalize extreme violence and inhumane treatment of the defenseless.

“What are we protesting??”

“I’m not sure.”

They had as much peace as Jews in Ghettos.

Anonymous wrote:I recently spoke to a lawyer whose firm represents a number of universities, etc., and long story short: antisemitism on college campuses has been a thing since before October 7 and students with Islamic extremist tendencies are typically but not always involved. The lawyer’s exact words: “what we are seeing in the news this week is nothing compared to what’s been quietly happening for the last few years.”

So, we have antisemitism but what’s the word for Americans supporting Gazans who are being bullied and shamed relentlessly by Zionists??? God forbid if someone opens their mouth to criticize Israel, so are well all supposed to take a pledge of allegiance to Israel? See, money can buy you power but it cannot win public sentiment and in the long run public sentiment is what determines if the powerful remain that way.

I’m wondering if you are capable of stepping back to see the bigger, far more complex picture…or if you are only able to hyperfixate on Gaza?

Literally everyone recognizes the tragic suffering in Gaza. Everyone. Even Israelis.

But the situation pre-October 7 and post-October 7 is far more complex than the overly simplified messaging.

We are dealing with multiple countries sucked into a very serious powder keg: Western values vs Anti-western values.

If you are posting on dcum, you enjoy western values.

What’s unclear is how this will end.

I think the West is hoping to move the needle rather than just maintain status quo.

If you can’t recognize the complexity of the big picture…sigh.

What are these "Western values" of which you speak? Does it include supplying weapons to aid genocide? Does it include rolling back women's rights to accommodate men? Does it include getting rid of abortion rights, killing millions of people since WWII, invading countries for oil? Please, I would love to know about these values you hold so dear.

Oy vey.

Think of it this way: if you live in America and can fritter away your time posting on dcum, then you are enjoying western values.

Similarly, if you are able to leave your house unchaperoned in a tank top with exposed hair…

Or if you don’t need to worry about being stoned or enduring an honor killing or being thrown off a building for who love…

Or if you recognize the rule of law…

Or benefit from capitalism…

Or enjoy public education…

Etc.

Is our democracy perfect? No. But it has the ability to evolve.

If you think life is better under a religious totalitarian regime, then I am not interested in helping you get up to speed.

You have described most of the world, even China and Russia but what you failed to do is to actually give examples of western values. Nice try though.

ICYMI: people can be tossed in jail or “disappeared” … there’s no rule of law.

It’s easier to describe those who don’t accept western values. Hint: religious extremist totalitarian regimes and the sheeple who love that brand of “religion” and (sadly) those who are forced to endure it.

#duh

You just described Israel.
Congratulations for finally seeing the light.

I can understand why you believe that…you’ve accepted the Tik Tok version of “reality.”

It’s like we are living in a bizarro world of #facts concocted by dum-dums.

Go back to your bubble if you can't handle the truth.
Which country has a religious symbol on its flag?
Which country calls itself the Jewish homeland and is ruled by an ultra religious Likud party?
Which country is arresting and assaulting Jews for protesting against the genocide in Gaza?
Which country is committing genocide in Gaza?
Which country is enabling the theft of Palestinian land in the West Bank?

Which countries breed terrorists?

Which religion is most linked with religious extremists who are apt to blow up themselves and others in the name of religion?

Which groups adhere to deeply held beliefs summed up by “Death to Israel, America, and the West”?

Simply put: it’s bananas to fail to recognize the very real threat these groups pose to America, Americans, and our way of life.

1) No country breeds terrorists. And that language just shows DCUM that you are fine with calling other people "animals."

2) Well my history books taught me about the invention of the suicide vest in Sri Lanka by Tamil Hindu militants. And the Shinto kamikaze pilots come to mind.

3) Heard a lot in Iran. But that population is not even a little monolithic so painting them all the same way is somewhere between stupid and evil.

To be clear I am only pausing my TV show to write the because poorly thought out and disingenuous arguments like these are irritating. There are a few other ways you could have presented your positions. Some of them maybe even worth listening to... but since that is not what you wrote I have to assume you are a raging bigot that believes some people are less human than you.

What tv show are you watching?

So when did the protests in Austin start? Was it just today? And Abbott sent in the troopers the first day?

The images of riot gear clad state troopers on horseback sent against college students is pretty incredible.

For pro-Israel folks, do you support such action against peaceful protesters? Is there any documentation that these protesters in Austin were not peaceful?

The formula is pretty standard at this point.

Propagandize the pro-Israel schtick.
Demean views that bring light to the atrocities being committed by Israel with insults like unhinged, word salad, etc.
Throw the kitchen sink full of false claims at the actual facts.
Try to intimidate posters from posting at all.
Try to encourage the suspension of the discussion altogether ("Why is this thread still allowed to continue?")
Report posts repeatedly until the moderator experiences moderator fatigue and just capitulates to their false claims, deleting posts and/or blocking posters.

Rinse, repeat.

In this case, the bizarre interview the Yale student gave (where her eye was clearly not impacted by being "poked out" two days earlier) was referenced. In this interview, she acknowledged that she instigated the conditions during which a flag apparently touched her face in the eye area, and she made it clear as day that her entire purpose in going to the protest was to instigate a conflict and then demand someone's arrest. Her reaction to having her eye "poked out" was not to stabilize the injury and ensure that it was treated promptly, but instead to "run after this kid and find him".

Why does it have to be “either/or” with them? Is it an intelligence thing? Do they really think the only options are “support Israel” or “support Hamas”? I’m worried about our future if these young folks can’t understand that Hamas is a terrorist organization that has done terrible things.

I don’t think most of the protesters are pro-Hamas. They are giving a voice to the Palestinian people. But I’m sure there must be a few radical protesters who are supporting Hamas. There are always a few extremist voices and miscreants in large groups unfortunately

UT told the protest organizers they were not allowed to set up encampment on campus. Sent an email to student body this morning.

Mass of students flooded out of class midday.

Texas Dept of Public Safety arrived shortly thereafter.

Texans don’t mess around. Zero percent chance they will have a Columbia situation on their campus.

You should live under such "pre-10/7 peace" for 24 hours before you suggest that others should have cherished it, right?
