| I'm TTC and looking for a good OB/GYN at GWU? Any recommendations? Thank you! |
| I've used Megan Valentine as my GYN, but haven't had a baby yet so can't comment on that part of the job. As a doctor, I find her to be knowledgeable and compassionate. |
Thank you very much! |
| I just did the...any one of them approach. They were all great (with the exception of one who is now retired) and I had good and coordinated care throughout. You never know who will be around when you deliver anyway... |
| OP you posted this in the infertility forum, where many of the women here have not gotten pregnant yet. If you move this to TTC or expectant moms you will likely get more suggestions. |
| Dr. Gorelick and Dr. Dennicola are both great. Highly recommend for TTC, pre-natal, and post-natal care. (Neither delivered my first child, but I was happy with the GWU delivery doctor as well.) |
| Dr. Gorelick is straightforward and nice, and was matter of fact about dealing with my hypertension. Dr. Jamshidi was exceedingly kind to me during one of my miscarriages and D&C. |
| Denicola is leaving. Jamshidi, Valentine, Keller all great. |
| I love dr David powers |
| Lesko or Gorelik! Or Nelson. |
| I had an awful experience with Dr Valentine. It’s taken me almost 2 years to write this. She never listened to me- forced me into an induction that took 51 hours which led to a c section. She never checked on me at the hospital and forced BC on me after baby which led me to bleed for months until I stopped it. During my pregnancy I actually liked her a lot- but towards the end I felt like she just didn’t care about me. Next time around I will be going to a different practice and hospital. Also- GW is incompetent. They had to re do my epidural, etc. it felt like amateur hour (I used to work at a major NY hospital and it seemed like GW staff were very green). The only saving grace for us were the incredible nurses and Post partum nurse staff. They were angels. Dr Cigna ended up doing my emergency c section and I felt like she was the only one who communicated and had compassion. She was amazing. I will never forget how Dr V deserted us. She sent me to get induced and showed up 5 days later when I was about to be discharged. I think that tells you everything you need to know about her. |
Dr Valentine delivered my second kid, she's great, I agree! |
PP again... +1 for Jamshidi -- I just read the comment about Valentine directly above mine and I'm very surprised. Also, I delivered two kids at GW, had two epidurals and one induction and I always felt extremely well cared for. It was actually the postpartum stuff that could have been a bit more personal, but I realize that we were healthy and possibly "lower priority" than whatever else was going on on the floor that night. They did bring back the nursery and I got blissful 3-hour chunks of uninterrupted sleep, which was amazing. I find GW gets bashed on these boards all the time and it's simply not deserved. You get seen by A LOT of people, because it's a huge practice and it's also a teaching hospital; I get that some people don't love that part and want a smaller, more intimate experience. I actually liked that there were more eyes/brains involved in my care, and it all seemed so well coordinated. |

I saw the GW MWs for both of my pregnancies and love them, with one exception… due to that exception I saw the OB on call for my second. Dr. Nelson is beyond fantastic, and is very pro-natural birth and takes a low intervention approach if that is something you are into.
I also think Keller and Lesko are wonderful. I have only seen Jamshidi for gyn annuals but love, love, love her. So kind and gentle, while also being very professional. |
