What are your favorite hobbies? Kids are out of the house and I’m looking for new activities.

I sing - with a couple of groups, have a book group that meets once a month, I love to bake, I volunteer with a kid based charity, and I love to travel.

How do you find a singing group, PP?

I upcycle old vases and glassware - it's a fun creative outlet. When I have too many, I give my projects away on our local buy nothing group

I joined a rock-n-roll band. Was in one in college, then nothing for 40 years. Beatles songs will never get old.

I scour consignment shops and used clothing stores for high quality but low priced goods and then sell them on Ebay for 2-3+ times what I paid for them. I only do it about once week but it's a profitable little hobby. If I buy furniture I will sometimes refinish the piece and I sell most of the furniture on Craig's list.

I searched for local groups - found a few community based organizations and several larger symphonic type ones. Over the years I've picked different ones based on how much time I could commit, what their rehearsal schedule and repertoire were, and what my commute to/from rehearsals would be. Then I'd look for when they were holding auditions.

Sometimes the bigger choral groups will advertise auditions in the Post. If you're really into singing you should know about this resource: https://singersource.com/

Then, once I was in one group I started getting invited to join others.

I read a lot, do needlework, volunteer with a couple of organizations. I'm also addicted to jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. And I'm thinking about taking up quilting.

I plan to work at a garden center when I retire. I love the outdoors and home projects and it doesn’t feel claustrophobic like working or volunteering in a regular building.

Bake, cook, puzzles, art.

My job is very creative and collaborative, so I consider myself really lucky that I can get a lot of my hobby energy out at work. Which leaves me a lot of time to watch Netflix. THANK GOD.
