42+ and OE IVF success

Are there any stories out there? Has anyone had success at any clinic over 42? Feeling a bit discouraged. thanks!

My 42-y-o, OE/now toddler is out playing with her nanny right now and is amazing. Sharp as a tack and and adorable as all get out. It can indeed work, OP! Wishing you lots of good luck. I know it's a hard, needle-littered road. We were at Shady Grove, for what it's worth, and I was very happy with my experience there and my doctor.

Sure. 42 yo. Currently 4 months pregnant after 1 round of IVF/FET. Egg retrieval at 42. Used one PGS tested blastocyst. MFI was biggest hurdle to even trying to get pregnant on our own. No uterine or fallopian tube issues. Regular periods. For my age, I was told my AMH, estrogen, and antral follicle count, and whatever else they test, were of someone 7 years younger. That's the reason I went ahead with IVF.

Thank you for this. How many cycles did you go through? I am 43 and looking at 5th cycle I have DOR

Unfortunately, I've been told I have "old eggs" so different situation, but thank you for the positive story!!

That egg came from my second cycle. I'm really sorry you're having to do so many, and DOR is so hard, but I absolutely think there's a chance that you will achieve success yet. It really is a numbers game in so many ways.

What Dr. did you see at SGF?

I was with Dr. Moon and loved her! I found her both pragmatic and sympathetic and just really, really like her. She was great about explaining things in detail and also drew us a lot of diagrams which was somehow very helpful for me mentally. (It also highlighted for me just how crappy sex ed in our schools is, or was when I was growing up, when it comes to female anatomy, but that's another thread.)

I had my transfer 2 weeks prior to 42nd bday. It was my 4 round and 1st transfer. First 3 rounds we did pgs. Although i made good amount of eggs each cycle and 4 to 5 blasts each time, they were all pga abnormal. So, last round we didn’t do pgs, transferred 3 embryos and i had my daughter.

This has been my experience. I'm 43, been through 4 rounds of IVF, beginning at 42 because my Dr. at SGF told me to come back "when I was ready to get pregnant" and never mentioned the possibility of FREEZING blasts, so I lost a year. Headsmack. I have had 5 blasts, all PGS abnormal. I may skip PGS this time. The last one had one chromosome off and I just felt it might have corrected itself. Of course, you being 41 and me being 43 are very different things. I'm so tired of the up and down emotional cycle.

I did 5 OE cycles from ages 39-41. Not a single normal blast. Tried transferring some Day 3s and miscarried. I’m moving to DE.

Egg quality at 42 really depend on the health history and life style, it can be very individualized.
