| We have two children, 6 & 4. I want a minivan but my wife wouldn't be caught dead driving one and it is her turn for a new car so she wins. What SUV is "most like" a minivan? I love the functionality and versatility of the minivan so would want something similar in an SUV. |
| We have a Tesla Model X and it's got the automatic doors, which, to me, is a huge part of the minivan functionality. Our doors have better clearance than minivan doors. Plenty of storage between the front and rear trunks, too. It's also much, much safer than regular SUVs or minivans. |
| Your wife is not very smart. |
| Check out the Honda Pilot with second-row captains chairs. It feels very minivan-ish to me. |
| The vehicle that is most like a minivan is: a minivan. |
| Why not get a minivan that feels like a SUV? |
Not the OP, but I would LOVE a Tesla X for all those reasons. I just can't afford one. Hoping the used ones come down in price soon. |

None that will have as much cargo room, if that’s what you are looking for.
Take a look at the Subaru Ascent though. It’s not as SUV like. Still more wagon like. And has all those family-friendly accessories and features. https://www.cars.com/research/compare/?acodes=USD00SUS321A0,USD00HOV011A0 https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/subaru/ascent |

I was kinda meh about a minivan. I knew it was the best idea, but wasn't super excited about how much it cost for how lame it would look/feel. We just got one, and it's AWESOME. Like I was fine with getting one, but I am surprised by how much I already really love it. It doesn't feel as big as it is. And the best part, the part you can not replicate in an SUV is the SLIDING DOORS. It's AWESOME. So easy to get the kids in and out, my 5 year old can get in and out ON HER OWN NOW. This is a revelation and has quite honestly made my life easier in the 3 weeks I've had the van.
So yeah, I'd rent a minivan and have her try it for a week before ruling it out. |
Yep. My mom got a Town and Country and we drove it while visiting her, and now I totally get why people want minivans. |
See my post above about the Tesla Model X. My three kids (8, 6, 3.5) can all get themselves in and out on their own. I agree, though, it's a fantastic feature, and I'd be loathe to forego it at this point. I don't know of any other SUVs that have sliding/automatic doors, but I could be wrong. FWIW, I think we would love a minivan, too. We made the mistake of test-driving the X and then there was no going back. |
Can you take a road trip in a Tesla though? I'd love an electric car for commuting, but not being able to drive very far would do it in for me. Also, that car starts at $80k. |

The esthetics of Tesla are really lacking. It seems as if they just tried to avoid displeasing anyone: you always end up with BLAND when you do that. |

I'm a car guy and I love our family's Honda Odyssey. My feelings may be different it was a daily driver, but I really enjoy driving the Odyssey on weekends and road trips.
As others have mentioned the Honda Pilot is very van-like, as it shares the same platform with the Odyssey. |
