| I just came across the show Shameless on Youtube. I think it airs on Showtime - so a cable show not a network show. One of the storylines is of a gay teen. In the early seasons his character kisses and has oral and anal sex with quite a few older men. The scenes are fairly explicit. They also show shots of the teen naked from the back. In real life the actor playing this character was only 15 when filming started. I obviously have no idea if they were using a body double in some shots but if so, you can't tell. How is it not illegal to show what would otherwise be considered child porn if it wasn't on TV. I get that this is TV but my understanding is that even animated child porn can be considered illegal - yet when it is acted out in a TV show it is fine? Also to have the teen kissing men in their 20s, 40s and older - even if it is for 'work' - can a 15 year old consent to that? |
| I may be somewhat prudish on this topic myself but I really find it shocking that anyone would allow their underage child to participate in some of the sexual, disgusting, vulgar and totally inappropriate movies and TV shows that I have seen kids in. I believe the parents have dollar signs in mind and do not care about their children otherwise. It's pathetic. |
I'm with you. Like when the child actor is about to be raped. It's crazy parents are good with that, many of those scenes are pretty real. |
That was what I thought too. I mean the kissing is actually happening, the nudity is actually happening (with whatever basic modesty guards are in place), the bodies are actually touching in the simulated sex scenes. The actor looked so young - that was what made me look it up. His main love interest is 10 years his senior and the other guys he was having sex with were much older. What parent lets their 15 year old do that? I get they are depicting what some teens actually live but who wants to see their 15 year kissing older men and simulating sex with them while mostly naked? It also has to be weird for the older actors - to be doing that with a 15 year old. I felt wrong watching it. The show has been on for ten years so the actor is now 25 or 26 but it just made me think - how is this legal? |
| I have seen interviews with adult actors who find the sex scenes really uncomfortable to film. I can only imagine what it is like for a teen. |
| I can’t even watch that stuff. Revolting |
| Cameron Monogahan aka Ian Gallegher was 18 tia when he came out gay on “Shameless”. The show started in 2011. He did not have his first sex scenes until the third season, so he naught have actually been 19 or 20. His character played a 15-16 year old teenager at the time. |
The sex scenes started in the first season. |
|
Thora Birch’s father used to watch and “coach” her sex scenes. Not sure if any were when she was underage, though.

| Minors cannot film sex scenes, those are body doubles. |
| Cameron Monaghan was 18. He was not underage. If you don’t like teenage sex, addiction and other disturbing ideas, why watch Shameless? |
|
Minors can’t be filmed nude.
End of story. |
NP - not watching , but curious about legality and consequences |
| This is why I stopped watching game of thrones.... in episode 3 or 4, there was a 6 year old was being breast fed (that was the storyline that the kid was too old and this would scar him.) I looked it up so know it wasnt her real breast he was coddling, but did they explain to the kid what he was “simulating”? I AM a prude so that and other scenes those first few episodes made me reconsider what I found entertaining so I didn’t watch |
| Shameless started filming in 2010. The first season aired in Jan 2011. He was born Aug 93 so ther is no way he was 18 when they started filming. Also I saw an article where he was talking about filming the fully nude sex scene in season 3 and he said he was 18 when they were filming that. |
