underage actors and sex scenes question

Umm yes. They explained that to the kid. That’s what happens in rehearsal. Also, he had a guardian with him at all times. They would have known what the scene was well before shooting.

I see no issue. My kids see my nurse my youngest child. It’s not a sexual act. Anal sex and breastfeeding aren’t even in the same category.

I thought it was weird when Judd Apatow had his 14-15 year-old daughter in that Love show in Netflix. While she wasn't in any sex scenes, there were plenty others on the show and I'm sure she ended up watching the full episodes of the series. Obviously he is very sexually open, but even so I would've thought he and his wife would've wanted to keep their daughter out of such a show. But who knows anymore. Seems like anything goes anymore for kids of all ages simply because they have see it all before now anyway.

I didn’t stop watching it but it made me very uncomfortable to read that they basically waited until the minute Sophie Turner was 18 to film a rape scene. It wasn’t very graphic but still... these are kids.

Apatow is a degenerate low-life, so I'd expect nothing less. His daughter ended up dropping out of college because she couldn't stand student housing in "miserable" cold weather Evanston; preferred her parents mansion in sunny LA.

They would have let people believe it because outrage = publicity. But unless you also heard about they getting fined for it, it was either a body double or Mischa Barton is lying about her age.

The laws have changed since Brooke Shields was a child. Also, it’s not a flat prohibition on all nudity by a minor, otherwise you could never have a shot of a baby’s naked butt. It has to be nudity with a simulated sexual act. So Thora Birch could flash her breasts at her neighbor (with a parent’s permission) because it wasn’t shown in connection with a sexual act, but she could not be filmed with her breasts exposed if the scene included simulated sex between her and the neighbor.

I had similar reservations about a baby/toddler who was in a Lifetime movie I watched several years ago (don't judge me, lol) about domestic violence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Cry_for_Help:_The_Tracey_Thurman_Story). There's a scene where the title character is horribly and violently beaten while her baby/toddler is watching. In the scene, the baby is wailing. Obviously, no one was actually getting beaten, but the baby isn't aware of that. I'd have a really difficult time subjecting my child to that kind of upset and trauma.

Yeah Thora Birch's parents were fine with her being topless in the movie at 16. They were both porn performers and so have a different bar for what should or shouldn't be on camera for the world to see. Apparently her dad (who is her manager) gets really involved in her sex scenes and tries to choreograph them with the actual producers / directors. I find it weird to have your dad on set when you are naked and simulating sex but the Birch family is not the norm.

There were quite a few nude teens in early movies but I think since 2003, there are more limitations on what a minor can do.
