How can anyone support Northam?

The black face/KKK history just makes me sick. How has he not been recalled? It is absolutely despicable that this racist is still in power.

Get off the Internet and start working on that, then.

Yeah, inexcusable, and I don't think people should be judged based on stupid teen and young adult behavior, either. If you did something stupid in college, so what -- what have you done since then? But the way he handled this was just so wrong. So weak. And didn't address the KKK issue either. I can't respect him anymore. But I don't vote in VA so it doesn't matter.

He’s come out ahead, as people look at the alternatives both in VA (alleged rapist) and across the river (ineffectual leadership presiding over economic stagnation).

Good for him for staying the course and making amends, while not over-correcting.

Stop pretending that character matters, or listening to people who pretend it does only for the other guy. Policy is the only thing that matters in politics.

And he still probably doesn't understand what the problem was. His wife, of all people, had to stop him from attempting to moonwalk during his apology.

The lieutenant governor isn't much of an improvement either.

All he did was refuse to resign, hunker down, and wait for the news cycle to focus on other stories

His nickname alone should have been a BIG RED FLAG.

And they did, so it worked for him. I’m actually happy he didn’t cave and resign. It would have been weak.

The Washington Post had a great editorial right after Christmas about Northam’s political comeback.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/how-ralph-northam-came-back-from-the-political-dead/2019/12/27/941e4a46-282b-11ea-b2ca-2e72667c1741_story.html

That aside, if you think he should be recalled, go start the movement. What’s stopping you?

That is untrue, he has made extensive efforts since the story broke to educate himself and address issues of systemic racism.

He didn’t make any amends. He’s still a despicable goober who should have resigned

What would have qualified as “making amends” in your mind?

Some might say if northam, Fairfax, and Herring were republican they would be burned at the stake.

I still say no matter what they’ve done in their past they are better than any republican. We are the voice of the people while all the republicans care about is billionaire donors and big business.

Racism only matters if the offender is a Republican.
