I don't want to say that there's never any need for books about marriage or that none of them are good or helpful, but it's also not hard to see that books about marriage are a cottage industry within the world of Christian publishing, probably because marriage is hard and people are always looking for help and guidance with it. Thus it's not hard to see why Christian celebrities and public figures might want to write a book about it. |
The timing of everything with Aaron Ivey is a bit odd to me. It looks like he was fired on 2/5 but didn't tell his wife right away.
The church put out a statement on his firing on 2/11 but said that he was fired on 2/5 https://www.austinstone.org/articles/aaron-ivey-dismissal. His wife, Jamie, has a book that is coming out today (2/13) so all last week she was on a big media tour and was posting on IG, including with Aaron all upbeat and excited. Her team just posted today a message saying due to an unexpected crisis she would be off social media for awhile. It looks like she was blindsided with this news. i feel sad for her. |
I think Tyler annoys me more than Jen. The headshot of him “biting his finger” while not actually biting anything literally makes me queasy (in more ways than one).
I’m not even going to get started on the “cancer” thing, that schtick was addressed in the “annoying things that people make their whole personality” (see: people who have an easily treatable non-life threatening, non-aggressive form of cancer or pre-cancer and choose go all in on playing the “survivor” card.) The syrupy “encouragement” posts: gag me. They reek of self importance, not actual empathy. |
I’m a bit uncomfortable admitting this, but I’ve always thought Tyler looked incredibly unhealthy. Then I wondered if it was some sort on implicit bias on my part. I don’t think so because Tracey Chapman looks incredibly healthy to me. Health, meaning both physical and mental based on nothing really concrete. I hope I don’t regret this, yes I’m an old white woman. |
He does. |
I couldn’t even listen to her most recent post about Valentine’s Day but- her eyebrows! Omg what is that color? They were wiggling around like caterpillars. So so bad! |
Jamie Ivey is amazing. She is real, not about the fame-game, and earnestly wants to make this world a better place.
That her husband did this, she was completely blind sided. I guarantee you. She would not have gone on tour knowing what we all now know. I actually think Jen will be in her corner all the way. |
Why would you guarantee it? You sound like a PR person for Jen |
I seriously do not understand how no one approaches her about her hair, eyebrows, makeup, wardrobe. All of it. She looks terrible. Unhinged |
I listen to several of Jamie Ivey's podcasts today and I just wanted to cry. She was talking about how her husband used to have p*** addiction problem in the past. And how marriage can be hard and you can feel like roommates, but yay they've been able to improve their marriage. Ugh it's just so sad. I do believe she was blindsided by all this. |
Jamie Ivey has been a breath of fresh air in the cluttered Christian influencer community.
If you see any of her book launch stuff, she is so genuinely excited & happy … no way she knew. Did Aaron not tell her he lost his job and had been unfaithful to help protect her? It sucks. I’m sorry but he should have told her asap. Before the church released a statement to make it public. Ug. |
She’s let herself go to the point that she now needs a complete head to toe makeover: hair, skincare, makeup, wardrobe. She looks so terrible because she still seems to think she’s 25. She’s unintentionally aging herself years. I don’t think she has the discipline or maturity to quit drinking or to eat better (which those two things combined would go a long way for her). |
But the eyebrows! did she change the color she was using? wth. so, so bad! |
But the eyebrows! did she change the color she was using? wth. so, so bad! I had to go check it out! Oh My! This cannot be the woman that just spent $$$ at a salon? The roots? The eyebrows? The brown hair at the bottom? |
Watching the Jen post with the caterpillar eyebrows, without sound, is its own show. The eyebrows, the facial expressions yikes. |
