Moms: what do you do as soon as you feel like you’re getting sick?

DS has been down for the past week, and I’m just now starting to feel like I caught it from him. What do you do to ward off illness? Zinc? Elderberry?
I’m exhausted from a sleepless week with DS and I can’t get sick now that he’s almost better and will want to go go go again! Help!

Zinc and extra vitamin C.

Elderberry is great. Guzzle that. Also drink lots and lots of water and lots of real ginger tea (ginger simmered in water, not tea bags). Good luck OP. Hate that feeling.

Hydrate and sleep.

Before you were a mom, you could call in sick to work and stay in bed all day watching bad daytime tv. Can’t do that when kid is off school and underfoot needing to be cared for.

Fluids and rest. Tell DH he has to take over everything child related as I crawl into bed...

Zicam -- the mist that you spray in your mouth. Lots of fluids.

Honey ginger and lemon tea - as in, cut up fresh ginger root, squeeze some lemons and add honey to taste.

I also make a huge pot of vegetable soup and that’s pretty much all I consume for a few days.

Guzzling elderberry extract works surprisingly well.
The zicam mist you spray into your mouth also works pretty well.

Gargle with or drink apple cider vinegar

Rest as much as possible. Drink lots of water. Tea with ginger. I’m sick now. I’ve had seven extra people in my house since Christmas. No time to rest. I’m exhausted. And that’s why I’m sick.

Start taking it as soon as you feel something coming on.

Zinc, elderberry, water, and rest!

Gatorade, Ricola and go to bed super early. Even if my throat doesn't particularly hurt, sucking on Ricola seems to "keep things moving" and keep my nose clear/throat clear.
