Getting sick with what?

For cold, chills, flu, cough, sore throat, fever, headache, body ache, fatigue -
one dose of ocillococinum. If I do not feel better in 15 minutes, I take another dose. I take up to 4 dose in the first hour, and then a dose every 2-3 hour. Usually, I am ok by the 6th dose.

For any pain and inflammation - I also drink 2 oz of hot full-fat milk with 1/4 tsp of turmeric in it.

For any stomach ailment, nausea, vomiting, sore throat due to vomiting (and even cough) - grate 1 inch of fresh ginger, boil in water, add honey and drink.

For severe stomach pain and stomach bug - Boil fennel seeds, cumin seeds and carom seeds (ajwain or bishop's weed) in water till the water becomes dark like weak tea. Strain and drink with honey.

If it’s a cold and achy muscles, an Epsom salts and coconut oil bath for 15 minutes. Then drink lots of water because the bath dehydrates you somewhat. I also do this for my kids if they show signs of a cold.

One thing I damn well do is not tell my DH at first as he'll immediately decide he's got the worst disease anyone's had and take to bed never to emerge except to whine periodically for tea and meds. As soon as DH due to be home I make sure things are set up pretty well in the home for the kids, go to my bedroom and shut door, get into bed, head under the covers and only then text DH to let him know I have the plague and good luck.

Tell my husband so he can adjust his schedule.

Before you were a mom, you could call in sick to work and stay in bed all day watching bad daytime tv. Can’t do that when kid is off school and underfoot needing to be cared for.

We have a nanny. So yes, I can.

I did a lot of what you all suggested last night and went to bed early. Slept like 10 hours and feeling only a sore throat and some stuffiness this morning. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll keep it up all day.

I don’t keep any of those ingredients in the house. Fennel seeds? Carom seeds? Ocillo what? This sounds like holistic crap.

Emergen-C (is zinc and vit C) seems to help. I have no idea if it's placebo or not, but I start that as soon as I feel a tickle. It doesn't stop it, but it does seem to lessen the duration. I used to do zicam, but it just tasted so gross I couldn't keep doing it.

I want to add elderberry too.

But most important, is to get to bed at night. Go to bed as early as possible. I don't think anything can replace rest.

The alicin in garlic is a, effective and robustly researched antiviral and antibiotic. If you can stomach fresh garlic (cooking kills the beneficial part), crush or finely chop a clove of garlic, and eat it within 20 minutes. (The alicin will also lose effectiveness over time). You will be so stinky, but it really does help with cold & flu. (Ok to mix the garlic with something as long as it stays raw and gets eaten within 20 or so minutes)

Also yes to the elderberry, ginger, and also turmeric.
