3 kids - 3 car seats

Anonymous
I am posting this in parenting , can anyone recommend their vehicle.. 3 kids under age 8 and all in some type of car seat so having trouble buckling now that the older wants a booster. Need something with Captain chairs and don't really want a mini van.
Also need AWD or 4WD .. also not looking to drive a suburban.
TIA ~!

Get a mini van. It is designed for hauling kids and does so better then the others.

Yes, a van is what you want. Once you get one, you’ll wonder why you put it off for so long. My kids are long gone, and I just bought another one. Most practical vehicle ever.

A little curious as to why you “need” AWD or 4WD. Few people really do.

OP here .. yes yes , I know I should just get a minivan .. just curious if anyone else has made and SUV work and loves it. I need AWD or 4WD for our driveway in the winters unfortunately … even with a dusting or slight rain / ice you cannot get out , very long 900 LF and steep.

We have a traverse with the same set up. All three are in full 5 point harness car seats. Baby is in infant bucket, 3 year old in a Diono and 4.5 year old all the way in the back in a Diono as well.

4 kids in car seat and we looooce our Honda Odyssey touring elite. We go on so many road trips and it is truly awesome.

We have a seven-seat Tesla Model X. The kids have been in some combination of infant Chicco, back- and forward-facing Diono Radians, and booster seats for the oldest, now 8. We've had it since she was five and still in a five-point seat.

We can do all three across in the second row, but the third row is more easily accessible than other three row SUVs because of the doors. You can also forego the middle seat in the second row. We're huge fans of the car, and it's one of the safest vehicles you can buy.

I just got a Hyundai Palisade with AWD. We are out of car seats - but I think it would work for you.

We have a Toyota Highlander, the version without the captain's chairs. Kids are 7, 5, and almost 2 and we've had it since before the youngest was born. The oldest is in a butt booster (not a high back). The middle was in a five-point harness with the baby in a bucket seat, though both are now transitioning to "older" seats.

Honda Pilot. Oldest two go in the far back and baby behind the passenger seat. Trunk space and back row are substantially roomier than the Highlander; I wanted a minivan initially but it was too long to fit in our garage.

We have the Siena minivan with AWD.

My friend just got one of these with captains chairs and it’s a roomy, nice ride. I think it would be a great alternative to a minivan or suburban for 3 kids in car seats. You should check it out OP!

We got a GMC Acadia because I refused a minivan. 3 years later I traded it in for an Odyssey and I.LOVE.IT!! Do yourself a favor and just get the minivan.
