No. It is interesting how they talk about the speed of play and how everyone is more serious. We just do not have anything like that level of competition in the states.

No. It is interesting how they talk about the speed of play and how everyone is more serious. We just do not have anything like that level of competition in the states.

Fair, but you can say that for most of Germany as well, and any other country. Bayern, Borussia, and other academies are great aspirational targets. But we might learn more from other academies that succeed despite the absence of those brands and the related attraction of a global talent pool to their academies. Who takes local talent and makes them into superior national talent? How do they do it? If you try to use Ajax or Barca as your guide, it's like having a decent high school look at MIT to model its math and science program.

Ajax has developed and sold more Fifa players than anywhere else. They have been known as a developmental club, unlike Clubs that buy the big $$ players.

Also-Germany plays its youth players. This is a reason many start their pro careers there where they will get actual minutes with the first team.

Agreed. Developmental, but players still go there to academy from all over the world. I'd go a little further down the Dutch first division for an analogue that could be instructive.

It takes a lot of Passport magic for youth players form all over the world to join European academies. FIFA has put quite the kabash on this practice. The players in these academies are mostly regional.
