Taking TOO long in the shower

Anonymous
DS16 has cultivated a new habit: 30+ minute showers in the morning, which has resulted in a lukewarm/cold shower for two other family members prior to work/school this week.

Over the last year, we have had repeated conversations about this/requests to keep showers to 15 minutes, and thought we were past this particular issue, but now this.

DH is over it (he got the cold shower), and threatening to shut off the hot water the next time this happens.

Thoughts/suggestions on how to manage this?

I think DH is right. Set a timer and then turn off the hot water. Or tell DS to shower at an off-peak time (switch to evenings).

Have him shower last, just like how we let people with less grocery pay first at the register when we have large loads. .

This must be a troll thread. If not -- you know what he's doing so just leave him alone about it. Have him shower when he comes home instead of in the mornings. But I suspect this is another troll.

Yep, DS has to shower last, after everyone else, or shower in the morning.

I bought a waterproof timer for our shower, and nagged DS into building the habit of using it.

I mean, does he not have privacy in his room?

I mean, I’m a female, but even on days I shave my legs and wash my hair, I’m not taking longer than 10 minutes. Something doesn’t add up.

Not a troll. And, I don't care what he is doing/why he is doing it. He can do that in his room, or at night when others don't have to get ready for their day.

Right?

I have long hair and I can be in and out - shave, shampoo and condition in nine minutes. Would I love to stand there? Sure - but I reserve that for times when I know there aren't others waiting in line behind me.

Sigh... Teen boys and their lack of PFC development can be so frustrating.

He is showering in the morning. And has to be up before both DH and I.

I don't see a reason why DH and I should have to adjust our morning schedules because DS can't manage his time in the shower to allow for the other three people in the house.

The bar for concluding a post is a troll is very, very low for some people

My brother was like this when we were in h.s. and we had only one tub/shower, other bath was a half bath

might be worth turning the hot off before you go to bed one night

DH talked about doing this, as well.

He is playing with his junior. Evening shower or go last in the morning. Tell him to play in his room not in the shower.

Ooh, clever. I suspect it will only take one time to fix the problem.
