Do I need plan B pill at age 46

Anonymous
Condom broke last night during sex with DH, it is around mid cycle, ie 15 days from my next period.
Given my age, 46, should I worry about getting Morning after pill?

Why do you use condoms if you are married?

Just curious.

While I seriously doubt that you can get pregnant naturally at your age, it is still a very remote possibility.
Very remote.

Yet I would take Plan B because I couldn’t handle the possibility of having a child in my late forties.

Or having to terminate (which I definitely would.)

Yes. If you're having a period, you're ovulating and could get pregnant. Ask me how I know.

The chances of you getting pregnant and not miscarrying are .062.

That’s 6% which is not terribly low

So I think I should take plan B just in case, any idea where I can find it? CVS ? Safeway? Can I find it on the shelves or need to ask the pharmacist?

Long story, but mainly because we don’t do it often enough to bother

Any pharmacy and you don’t need prescription. CVS had it On the shelves near condoms.

I think any pharmacy carries it. I got one of the Rexall in Vienna. If I were in your shoes I would take one just in case. Mostly because your gut is telling you you should. You’re likely fertile.

Yes. Take it.

??? What a weird question. Not op, but it seems obvious from her post that she uses them for birth control.

My mom got pregnant accidentally at 46. Yes, it can happen. Maybe not viable but would rather not go through that

I got pregnant at 46. We weren’t trying, but after years of dealing with infertility and precisely timed sex to get the two kids we have, we weren’t actively preventing it either. It ended in a miscarriage for me, but I do know people who’ve carried to term at that age.

I'd pay the cost of Plan B to avoid the chance of pregnancy and either going through a miscarriage or having to terminate. No brainer.

Yes, you have to ask the pharmacist and do it asap. I took it and it didn't work because I took it too late.
