I moved to a new house and now I feel like I might have ghosts too. The cats simultaneously get all puffy and race from the room when there is nothing there. They do it all the time. One cat slunked around on the ground for half a day, peering into rooms and staring like it saw something.
I tried to find the old thread by searching but couldn't find it. What am I supposed to do, short of moving? |
Call an exterminator. Maybe it's mice. |
LOL, LOL, LOL
|
oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh
ooooooooooooooooooooooohhh |
That sounds familiar. What am I supposed to do with that? Chant or something?...
Last night when I was falling asleep, one of the cats (sleeping on our bed) all of a sudden puffed himself up and started staring (pouncy fight-like staring) at something over my head...and there was nothing there. I don't want to move. I just want to get rid of the ghost. I know the other thread had some lame ideas I dismissed at the time. Now I need them. |
if the ghosts aren't bothering you otherwise, i wouldn't worry about it. but then i am pretty sure my house isn't haunted, so it's easy for me to say that. |
Are you creeped out? If not, just deal with the entity.
If you are, either smudge your place or go the religious route - having your house blessed. |
ooh I would be so creeped out if my cats did that! Does it happen everynight? Has anyone else in your house besides the cats noticed anything strange? Do you know anything about the history of your house?
Some people say that you have to acknowledge it's presence and then tell it to leave. But I believe I would call in a priest ASAP if I suspected a ghost swirling above me at night. There's no way I could ever fall asleep. |
I think I will do that. I'll call my church and see if they can send over a priest to bless my house. We all notice that the cats issue, but none of us see anything in the house. I know of at least one person who died in the house in the 1930s, but it seems like he was older (and probably lived a perfectly happy life). I have had cats before and they will go crazy for no reason, but this is a little different in that they will be actually staring at something and get very still and puff up. So it's not just like they want to race around. Yes, it's creepy. |
So what happened OP? Did you call a ghostbuster? |
OP here. I'm traveling on Friday so no sense kicking out my ghosts into the cold when I won't even be here.
I am going to call my church when I get back to see if they can bless my house. I'll report back afterward. |
I lived in Southeast Asia for years and sort of went native while I was there. There are a lot of animistic/cultural beliefs that help one take care of spirits (of the dead, the land, nature, etc.) so that you can live peacefully and prosperously. If I could afford it, I would have the Buddhist monks "bless" my abode. If not, or if I would be moving to a distant land (a frequent occurence), I would get blessed water and do my own blessing ritual. I'm convinced that conducting a ceremony of some sorts contributed significantly to my peace of mind.
I don't think you have to use "holy water" in the Catholic sense but I think if you can get water that's been "blessed" by someone capable of blessing it (priest, monk, rabbi, pastor, imam, etc.) you can do it yourself. I always got it from someone I respected, someone I could have gone to bless my baby. When I did it (and I had no problems getting blessed water from Buddhist monks and Hindu priests in this area once I explained what I wanted and why), I spent a moment meditating on why I was there and what I wanted, I then spoke aloud those thought and that the thoughts be spread throughout the house as the water would when it evaporates. I then dipped three fingers in the water and sort of flicked it into the room. I did that in every room in the house - I've also done it in offices when no one was around. Well, there was this one time when I was posted in Eastern Europe and the security guard was present. He had to unlock doors for me so he saw what I was doing. I know he approved because I did it on the first weekend I was there and by the following Monday, the local staff all knew. No one said anything directly but they talked about the change in energy and how things felt differently. I got subtle hints around my 1 year anniversary to do it again. Even if there are no such things as ghosts, psychologically, we all felt better. Who's to say it wasn't real? |
Don't cats just DO that? I mean, isn't that just part of their charm, freaking you out by staring intently into dark rooms? Or have I always lived in "haunted" places? |
OP here again. Okay, first off let me say right now: I am not making this up. I was posting about the cats because I haven't ever experienced cats just puffing up for no reason and staring up at the sky or elsewhere when to my eyes there was nothing there.
Okay, tonight I had my friends over and as I wiping down the refrigerator (stainless steel), we noticed two handprints of little children (like toddlers) and they wouldn't wipe off. They're like impressions of little hands right at the bottom of the fridge. The old owners had no children (just dogs) and the fridge is only 2 years old. Anyway, even if these were visitors' handprints, we could not wipe them off. We wiped the fridge clean, and then as it dried the little hand prints came back. ...so my point is...this is really creepy, right? |
