Stokes Stars?

what is happening at Stokes Brookland that it dropped to a three-star rating? Very disappointing to see!
Anonymous
It went up relative to last year. It seems like the test scores are just a little meh, given the high-income demographic, especially in math.

Stokes was 4 stars last year.

It didn't drop to three. It was three last years too. .

Plus a school that is a high 3 could well be a stronger school academically than one that is a low 4.

Good god. a three two years in a row?
Anonymous
It's 0.3 away from 4 star... sheesh.

Of all the immersion charters that feed into DCI, they are the lowest star.

Yes their math scores are weak. This year improved I think. I don’t remember the exact number but it stood out as being very low compared to the other immersion charters.

Forgot to add above was referring to their scores last year

And they don't have nearly the kids in need that DCB does. what happened? they used to be better!

Their PMF / Tier scores has actually increased 8 points since 2016, and they are consistently Tier 1. The OSSE star system has only just released its second year of reports. No real change except perhaps in your perception.

But if you look at the PMF scores in comparison among other similar immersion charters, their PMF and growth scores are lower.

Ok. But the point is that’s been the case for about 7-8 years. It isn’t a sudden ‘decline.’ That categorization is all I was questioning. Two things that have materially changed at Stokes is working toward IB certification and opening a second campus.

Um.....Good schools shouldn't have lower scores because of growth and new programs.
