Can someone explain something to me about Zappos?

If I order shoes at 10 pm, how do they get them to me at 1 pm the next day? That is some 15 hours later.

Isn't Zappos amazing?

It has something to do with the time/space continuum, I think. But I love it. Finished my Christmas shopping just in time.

I wonder if they are getting the shoes from local shoe stores and delivering them... still does not make sense.

I haven't been able to figure it out either. PP is wrong about them being local though. I thought the same thing until I checked the tracking. Zappos is just amazing.

The elves must be up all night long. The they drop the shoes form the sky?
Seriously though, if you know what you want, what is the point of going shopping?

Maybe they have a warehouse distribution center close by.

I seriously think they have someone standing over my shoulder and watching what I order, running out to the mall, and bringing it back to my office. That's the only possible explanation. And they have free shipping on returns. Zappos rocks.

I think there is a Zappos warehouse in MD, somewhere between here and B'more.

I always am told that I "earned" free next day shipping. Is this true - that loyal customers get next day shipping even if they did not sign up for it?

My guess is that they have a local warehouse and an agreement with UPS that anything they get to them by 6 am or 7am, UPS will deliver that day (or anything by midnight will get on a plane). And then they must have people working at night. But yes, it is crazy fast. Mind boggling fast when you imagine how freaking huge a warehouse must be with all of those shoes. A lot of companies don't even send you the "we got your order" e-mail that fast.

Diapers.com is the same way. And BTW, they now have lots of different non-diaper products.

I assure you I dont work them!

And I love Amazon.com. I bought all of my Xmas present on Amazon and never stepped foot in a store this holiday season.
