My parents? No, they did not.
My dh and I? If you consider less than 400k each, yes. Our parents are from the greatest generation, were helped by all the middle class / working class social mobility GI bill programs, and scrimped and saved as much as they could. |

My parents- just my mom and about $20k
Me - my parents are hoping to leave us each about $300k (there are four of us). Me - I hope to leave about $1.5m to each child (I have 2) |

DH's Grandma has money set aside. (It won't be what some are hoping for)
MIL has been "sharing" while she's still alive. That's what she calls it. She doesn't want the Government taking most of it. My mom received a small inheritance when my Grandma passed away. |

| Yes, and no. Well, my mom got a nice inheritance, of which my sister and I will get bupkis. None of the other parents got anything, so DH and I won’t get anything. |

For me: an inheritance of 50+ years of untreated mental illness and hoarding.
DH: yes. I will not have direct access but our kids will benefit. |

+1. What a ridiculous statement. I wish my husband and I could plan on getting 800K!!! Yes, close to a million dollars is an inheritance

| My parents (now in their 80s) didn't receive an inheritance, but when their parents (one on each side was still alive at that point)moved in with us they slowly transferred all their assets to their grandchildren's college savings accounts (the maximum tax free each year) so we basically got an inheritance that way. There were 7 grandchildren so each of us over the years got about $50,000 I think. My parents cared for both my grandparents at home -- granddad only spent 1 month in the hospital at the end; grandmom ended up living in a nursing home for about a year. She had no assets left when she died. |

My parents received collectively in today’s dollars about $800k (their share). My share of what they might leave might be $100k. That excludes the more than $100k that I gave them to help them.
DHs parents will leave us something. If I guessed I’d say that our share would be $500k-$750k. They probably inherited in today’s dollars about $200k |
