| AASHTO and VDOT have agree to allow the facility to be called I-366, upgrading it from its current designation as VA-267 |
| but of course tolls are left up |
|
Does this mean the exits will be renumbered too?
What about the Dulles Greenway? Also 366? |
|
How much will need to be spent on new signs?
Seems like a total waste of money. |
| Doesn’t an interstate actually have to connect at least two states? The toll road is like ten miles long! This makes no sense. |
| Can it get federal funding? |
| How is a private toll road an Interstate? Is ownership going to transfer to the federal govt? |
It does connect two states - insanity and normalcy. |
No. It has to meet Interstate standards. There are dozens of Interstate highways that are in only one state. |
I-90 is a toll road in many states. |
No. Also, 3-digit interstate numbers indicate a local branch of a main interstate (like 495 being local and 95 being a main interstate). There are multiple interstates in Hawaii. |
You can drive from here to NYC on only interstates, and you'll pay tolls at least 4 times on your drive. |
| I can confirm OP's thread, 267 will be transitioning into an interstate. VDot will maintain and own it. |
| When are they going to do away with the tolls? My understanding was that the tolls were needed to pay for the cost of the road - way back when it was first built. Hasn’t it been decades since then? Seems like it should more than paid for by now. |
Lol. That’s funny. |
