baby girl name, need your thoughts

Anonymous
We're a mixed couple french/indian (just to give some context). Here is our shortlist of names for our baby girl.
We'd love to hear your thoughts about it. Which ones do you love or hate? Are there some that we should avoid -- too weird, sounds like a tampon brand, will lead to teasing?
Thanks a lot!

Alani
Srya
Amani
Adina
Saya
Saida
Seraya
Saori
Maelys
Amaris
Zadie
Neva

My top three (from your list): Alani, Adina, and Zadie.

I think Amani sounds similar to Armani (MANY people throw in extra letters b/c their brain tells them it should be in there).

I think Srya and Maelys would be very difficult for an American to figure out their pronunciation. Not a deal-killer, just an FYI.

My favorite is Seraya.

Agree with PP that Srya and Maelys are tough - also not a fan of Saori (not sure how to even go about saying it).

The rest are beautiful.

Srya - wouldn't this be hard to pronounce in French?
Amani - agree with PP, like Armani
Adina - one word: edema
Saya - "nara"
Saida - I know a Saida, and she's awesome, so I'm favorably inclined
Zadie - it's like Sadie, but trying too hard
Neva - While there are many possible pitfalls re: last name, this is my favorite.

I love Maelys for some reason. It's my favorite on the list.

I think they are very nice names. I think Amaris might get transliterated as Aramis, which is unfortunate. But I like the others.

OP here, these are very useful comments!
You clearly think of many things that had not occured to me.

Zadie means grandpa in yiddish.

I have a name that's hard to spell and it is a big pain -

Maelys is on the list of hard to spell. Srya is asking for trouble. Both nice names, but just too annoying.

I am French and this is what I think:
- Srya: sounds like the country Syria
- Amani: definitely makes me think of the brand Armani, I can see your child getting teased in school
- Saori: sounds like a sari (the Indian piece of clothing for women)
- Saida: I like it, but to me it is Arabic not French and/or Indian (Saiid is a very common name for men in the Arab world)
- Maelys: sounds very French, so don't know if that would incorporate Indian culture, but I like it
- Zadie: makes me think of the French word "sadique" so not a good idea
- Neva: makes me think of the Nivea cream
My favorites are Alani, Seraya and Amaris.
Good luck!

Neva is a word used by people who shorten never in status updates on facebook and such.

Alani: Love
Srya: as PP said sounds like the country Syria
Amani: as PP said Armani
Adina: don't like
Saya: OK
Saida: OK
Seraya: Love
Saori: OK
Maelys: don't like
Amaris: sounds like a boys name
Zadie: Sadie? "No Zadie with a Z" she will say this her whole life
Neva: don't know if you mean with an eee or eh, I liked with eh, but then said it out loud and it sounded like slang for never
