MCPS redistricting plan

Just curious if everyone was aware they are planning to redistrict the the entire county, possibly effective school year 2021-22 to start. Potomac, Bethesda, Silver spring, Rockville, Gaithersburg, etc- bussing kids all over the county. It isn't just Clarksburg and Seneca Valley. Will affect all students except possibly juniors and seniors. Walkers will be on buses, etc. Pros and cons- no need to debate all of that but the point is, it's not just certain parts of the county OR maybe I am mistaken if there is someone here who is closely involved, can correct me if I am wrong. I saw previous threads that are mentioning very small pockets of the county, but I was told it's the entire county. Thanks!

In addition, a bunch of the posts mention Seneca Valley and Clarksburg.

There will be a countywide boundary analysis - that is not in question. Currently there are only a few "actual" boundary changes underway though.

No. It couldn't be more inaccurate, unless you said something like "Martin Luther King Jr was an avocado cultivar."

Interesting-- yeah I saw that. I had assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that they would present their findings June 2020, then BOE would vote Fall 2020 and it would take effect Fall 2021...

Correct. This is a MSTA initiative. Howard County just voted on their countywide boundary changes. MCPS is next.
