I just realized that my friend still puts her 10yo in a car seat, not a booster, the type of car seat that my toddler is in. Don't kids stop riding in these when they enter elementary school?? |
Sounds like a high back booster. My petite younger DD needed one until the end of 4th grade. |
What? No! |
Being in a 5 point harness is considerably safer than being in a seat belt. If my kid would cooperate, I would keep her in one for as long as possible. |
Not your kid, not your problem. You know most kids aren't in car seats and I think it is not nice to put it out there on a public forum just to make you feel better about your parenting. |
It’s by weight and height. And a lot of people keep their kids in car seats due to either bad crash experiences or losing someone close in a car accident. There is nothing wrong with this... truly mind your own business. |
+1 |
She was tiny and our pediatrician insisted on it. Can I see your medical license? |
If it were up to safety experts, we'd all be in five-poinz harness car seats with side protection. |
This is not true. Five points harnesses are safest for babies and young children. There is no evidence that a car seat is safer for older kids. In fact, some studies indicate that having a seatbelt that works as intended attached to a car is safer than a five point harness attached to a car seat. |
Nope. Crazy. |
Strange. Our pediatrician never mentioned car seats. I’m assuming you asked your pediatrician? Seems like a leading question. Regardless, parents can do what they choose but if they insist on car seats too long they will not be able to carpool and for me that is a dealbreaker. |
Crazy describes you if you think you know what is safe for a child you have never seen seen and can second guess a doctor who has cared for that child the kid’s entire life. My DD is almost 14 now and is only 4’10. She was the size of a 7 year old when she was in 4th grade. |
Our pediatrician is thorough and asks about car seats, guns in the home, smoke detectors, and whether the child has a tv in the bedroom. |
You sound stupid OP. Firstly, car seats for young children are base on height and weight and not just age. Secondly, it's none of your business what other people do so stop trying to make yourself feel better by getting your nose in other people's business. |
