The kid probably wants to be in the car seat.
And you know how overly indulgent and super accommodating parents are with their children nowadays. ![]() |
Well, that flew right over your head. |
I’m assuming proper installation and a seat that fits the child. |
Even assuming that, a five point harness attached to a car is very different from a five point harness attached only to a car seat. |
It’s “extra.” This area specializes in this kind of parenting. The poor child will be encased in Styrofoam when headed to college. Not a good look— or a way to live life. Good luck with that! |
My almost 7 year old still weighs 39 lbs and the seatbelt requirement is 40lbs. |
Mine is not in any danger of doing that. I expect she'll maybe make it to 5' tall. Her car seat (which she no longer uses) had a height limit of 58". She's 52", and almost 10 years old. |
My 6 year old is still in a 5 point, because he can’t break the darn 40 lb threshold. |

"Once they are facing forward, children should use a forward-facing car safety seat with a harness for as long as possible, until they reach the height and weight limits for their seats. Many seats can accommodate children up to 65 pounds or more." |
My kid with osteoporosis will be in a 5 point restraint at 10. In his case, he’s got other visible disabilities, but there are kids with osteoporosis without visible disabilities.

My 10 year old is in a booster seat. Its probably something like a Britax Frontier that is very long lasting. Why not? |
It is a good way to parent. You lack common sense. |
