Britax Vs. UppaBaby?

Anonymous
First time mom expecting baby. We have narrowed down our travel system to Britax or UppaBaby. Britax I hear is great but carseat is smaller. UppaBaby comes with lounger, but will have to buy separate carseat. It's all double the price of the Britax. Which one did you choose?

I loved my Uppababy. I wouldn't really call it a travel system. It was a stroller, and an amazing one. If you can afford it, get it. I used mine for almost 7 years.

We loved our Britax, and were so happy we moved up to the convertible car seat later.

+1. Our Cruz is going strong with kid #2, we're on year 5.

uppababy is luxury and britax is just a bare bones type of travel system.

I have the Britax travel system and it’s just ok. I really like the car seat and base, very easy to install, very easy to move the seat from the car to the stroller. But the stroller is kind of clunky and doesn’t steer well. That said, I bought it in 2014 and am now using it with baby #3 - so it definitely holds up!

I don’t think of it as cheap or bare bones like a PP suggested, it’s not Graco or Baby Trend. It’s more just extremely utilitarian.

Those are two ends of the spectrum. Go Baby Jogger.

We did not have 1,000 to spend on a stroller. But if I did I would have gotten the Uppa Baby. The Britax is fine but I don’t love it. BUT it is the smallest stroller height wise when closed. Which was important when we had to fit it in a small trunk. Would not have been able to fit the Uppa in my trunk

+2 and they have amazing customer service. We had a minor issue and they replaced the whole seat.

We replaced our Britax B-Agile + B-Safe 35 (2017 version) with the Uppababy Vista + Mesa for baby #2, and have been very happy with the decision.

Stroller pros: the Vista is easier to maneuver, appears to offer a smoother ride, and allows our toddler to sit more upright than the B-Agile could even at its most "upright" setting. By 12 months, trying to sit up in the B-Agile seemed to frustrate him, especially since we never got a snack tray or bar for the B-Agile, so there was nothing there for him to grab when trying to pull forward. Stroller cons: the Vista is heavier, and I've noticed the difference when loading it into the car even when it's configured as a single stroller.

Carseat pros: the Mesa seat appears to be wider and less "tight" than the B-Safe, which should make for a more comfortable fit. That said, I haven't compared the actual measurements so this could be my imagination. Carseat cons: Again, I think the Mesa may be heavier?

You’re comparing Mercedes and Kia.

What is the luxury step after Mesa seat?

Our Uppababy Cruz is on the second kid and 4 years old and still in fantastic shape. Buy a gently used one unless you get a great Black Friday deal. Or plan to re-sell when you’re done with it.

We didn’t consider Britax because I didn’t want to give any money to a company that pulled the kind of garbage described in the articles below. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have an issue with a company finding a defect and fixing the problem. But this behavior isn’t getting my money. And I could not trust them to own up to future defects.
