| As the title asks, what is the highest rate of speed you've reached in an automobile? 165 mph in a Viper for me. You? |
| I was a passenger. I was visiting my college friend in her semi rural hometown. Apparently to amuse themselves, she and friends would race each other around different areas. We encountered one of her friends on the way home from the mall and they raced each other (including on back country roads) at speeds up to 100 mph. I was NOT pleased. |
| Maybe 85/90 |
| Accidentally 105. I was on a boring stretch of 1-25 where the speed limit was 75. It was in a rental car that didn't feel fast at all. |
|
231.794 mph, Capitol Raceway, Crofton, MD, September 8, 2001. 1972 Chevelle pro-street doorslammer. Fastest charger mile ET I ever achieved with that car.
Usually get into the 160's with my track car ('97 Vette) at VIR, but have never been able to crack 160 at Summit Point. On the runway at Potomac Airfield I've hit 180... had more, but couldn't get there before having to brake. I never speed (beyond the speed of traffic) on public roads though. Seriously, never. |
| I think I accidentally hit 95 mph once. |
|
210 or so. Supercup.
Maybe 180 in a Radical 3 prototype at Summit. Former semi-pro. |
| seriously? 110 got pulled over by a cop. he let me go. |
| 147 mph on I-80 through the SLC salt flats in a Toyota MR2. |
| 120 just east of Baltimore on 95. And 110 on River Rd in Bethesda in high school. |
| Maybe 85? |
|
180 or so on the nascar track at Dover for a few laps.
110 in an X5 5.0 on a lonely stretch of road late at night. |
| 110 on 270 in a Saab |
| 135 on the jersey turnpike, 180 on the track. Same car. |
|
About 95 on the Adirondack Northway.
In a 1992 Volvo 240. |
