The complicity of others including spouses in the cohort is very real. Debra Black remained married to Leon after Nan Goldin successfully got his fat ass booted from the board of MoMA. Brad Karp has plenty of Sidwell and Vail money. Enough for a family ten times his size. But he wanted to have his kid work on a Woody Allen film. He wanted access to everything. It’s their world, and there is no law to the top Paul Weiss lawyer. Who cares right.

And the above is without the whole spy, Israel, Mossad element which is also obvious and crucial.

That's the thing. It's freaking us. We're the ones enabling this and we didn't really know it. There must be over a dozen Paul Weiss junior partners on here. AUSA's and DAS's a dime a dozen. Journalists are more common that chicken pox. Congressional staffers and D/RNC operatives.

We're the ones writing the press releases. We're the ones crafting the non-denial denials. We're the ones making the redactions.

And we're doing it to be able to afford private school and a G-Wagon. It's a sobering thought.

My husband and I have a child in DCPS, we live in a tiny condo, and our “fancy” car is 10 years old. And it’s not for lack of other career choices, but besides wanting reasonable work hours, we chose lives where we could always know we’re perfectly comfortable with our moral choices and will never have cause to feel like part of the “we.”

I was thinking the same thing. My family also lives a moral life, spend time with our kids, good jobs but reasonable hours. Not DCPS but public school. Proud of my career and proud of my life choices. Not part of the “we” either. This thread makes me hope my kids don’t go into law or banking.

I'm currently in the UK. Two of the men here mentioned in the files - "Prince" Andrew and Peter Mandelson - have fallen from grace big time, thanks to authorities moving to strip them of their honors (Andrew lost his titles, and Mandelson lost his ambassadorship and place in the House of Lords) and instigating investigations. Why have there been no similar moves in the US? I find it bizarre that the three people who have been most publicly (and rightly) humiliated by associating with Epstein - Andrew, Mandelson and Ghislaine Maxwell - are all Brits.

Because, it would seem, the people charged with investigating these crimes are also the very same people who 1) need to be investigated or 2) so closely linked/reliant on those in no.1 that their own self interest is at risk and/or 3) are terrified of the ramifications of their investigation because those people vested with the power to protect them are the same people identified in 1 and 2.
