I will be staying with my 3 kiddos in a hotel the week of thanksgiving and my DH can't come until Thanksgiving morning. We will be visiting some older relatives. Can I legally/wisely leave the kids in the hotel room while I use the hotel gym, likely on a different floor (??) of the hotel. Oldest has a gizmo phone. They would just be watching tv/playing on pads for 45 mins. What do you think? If oldest were 12 I would say absolutely, but at 11 I'm not 100% sure. |
If it was just 11 and 7, I'd say MAYBE.
But the 4 year old means NOPE absolutely not. |
Bring them down and sit them right outside the hotel gym on their iPads. |
That 4 year old will cause you problems. Maybe super early in the AM while they're still asleep. |
I mean, maybe? How rambunctious is your 4 year old? How responsible is your 11 year old? |
It depends on how they interact when you're not there, how responsible your 11 yr old is, how comfortable the 11 yr old will be herding the younger kids out if a fire alarm goes off, etc. |
Instead of using the gym, could you take the kids on some long walks? That way you all get exercise, the kids aren’t spending extra time on their phones, and they’ll be tired in a good way and likely fall asleep more easily, even though they’re in an unfamiliar place.

Can you bring the 4 year old to the gym (with ipad)? Leave the 11 and 7 year old in hotel. |
Nope |
I think it totally depends on the kids you have. |
No, not with the 4 year old. Would be fine otherwise. |
Your 11 year old can babysit in some jurisdictions. It would be fine with me unless there was a specific issue or sibling dynamic in play I was worried about causing problems. |
Not with a 4 year old.
Agreed bring the 4 year old with you and you're fine. |
I for sure say yes. An 11 year old can watch a 4 year old |
