Trying to decide between these two cars - would love to hear any thoughts or opinions to help me make a decision!
Thanks in advance! |
| Isn't there a huge price differential? |
| We looked at both 2 years ago and went w/the CRV. Price, middle rear seat, reliability and then cost of future repairs all part of decision. No regrets-CRV has been great |
| ^^^ référence to middle rear seat was comfort of. We had a carseat kid at that point but volvo v hard |
+1 this seems like a big difference. We have the crib and wouldn’t consider a Volvo because of the repair costs. |
| Why not a Subaru wagon? |
|
Safety ratings win for me. I got to hang out with firefighters who cut people out of cars after wrecks. I asked them what they drive. Volvo’s and Subaru’s for all of them.
Just look at IIHS for safety ratings. Buy what you can afford of course. Not everyone can buy a Volvo. And Honda’s are good. But for me, safety is the key factor of car selection. |
| Volvo is Chinese junk these days. |
I don’t think new Volvo’s are like old Volvo’s. |
| OP here thanks for your input. The Volvo is about 20K more, but it's rated slightly higher for safety. I've test driven both, and they seem very similar in how they manage on the road. Would love to hear from anyone who owns either car! |
Transmission failures, for one thing. Or wheel hub bearings failing. Or CV joints failing. I used to love Subaru, until I realized how many people besides me were having stuff fail or break before it should've. |
| Volvos are a terrible idea if you're going to keep it past warranty. |
Transmissions are a big deal. But that's a function of a bad choice to use a cvt. Wheel hubs and cv joints aren't a big deal, especially if you can turn a wrench. |
| The 2020 CRVs look great. |
absurd to pay 20k more unless you’re seeking some kind of status from a Volvo. Read reviews from credible sources. |
